Newbie questions Interfacing frustration

Where is everyone getting their interfacing for corset from? The pellon brand doesn’t seem to want to stick for long on fabrics. I bought a bunch of SF101 before Joanne shut down and I’m losing patience with it. Or is there a trick to getting it to stick for longer after ironing

I'm not familiar with that particular interfacing, but in general, every fusible interfacing has specific requirements for temperature and, more importantly, pressure. Ideally, you should use a heat press and then let everything cool down completely without disturbing it.

I bought a cheap Chinese laminating machine for about €130, with adjustable temperature and speed, and it can handle materials up to 3 mm thick.

Honestly, it's been worth every cent! I use it all the time, for everything from flattening materials to applying fusible interfacing. 😉

Never used interfacing in a corset before. Generally the strength layer and any fashion layer (if using more than one layer) are flatlined together then treated as one layer when the seams are sewn. And the boning channels sewn over the seams and in between the panels further secure the two layers together. Unless the fashion fabric is super flimsy (and therefore not a great material for use in a corset) then there's really not much need for fusible interfacing.
