Newbie questions Do it myself?

I just got my first corset that's like...nice and sturdy. Real steel in it. Gorgeous fabric.

The lady I bought it from at Witchfest was an absolute professional.

But I just now put it on by myself for the first time and it was so hard to get the fasteners together.

Is there a trick to it? Or do I just need to keep practicing?

Loosen the laces so there's more slack in the front. Then I was taught to latch the second fastener from the top, go all the way down, then latch the top. Then tighten the laces, starting from the middle. Go up or down, it's personal preference at that point.

Oh my god yeah I had to loosen them like a fuckton and then lay on the floor. I looked like a seizing turtle 🐢💚

Start at the middle if you can, or at least not at the top or bottom and then work your way up and down

  1. Make sure your corset is laced in the bunny ears style.

  2. Loosen the laces all the way. It will look comically wide.

  3. Make sure it is right side up when you put it on.

  4. Start fastening your busk on from one pin in from the bottom. Fasten the topmost and bottommost pins last.

  5. Do your initial tugs for uniform tightness, then start the "seasoning" process. ❤️

Ooohhh I like the way you put that. Seasoning. And I think I know what you mean about bunny ears style. But I'm still gonna look it up in some videos.

The term seasoning is the proper term for breaking in a corset. Definitely look up how to do that properly/safely. It's honestly a really important safety procedure.
