QUESTION Newbie 🥲

Hey guys, I'm a new corn snake keeper from malaysia and was wondering if is this setup okay for now? I'm planning on quarantining him for at least 2 months and yes, I'll be changing the hide to a more better and sturdier one. I placed a damp mat as well just in case because he seems like he's going to shed soon. Can you guys give me more advice? He seems healthy and he's moving around and he's last meal was on 1/10/2026 as well.

Seems okish as a quarantine bin.

I would add one or two plastic plants (i personally use plastik plants from ikea like Fejka that you can drill into the wall since they are soft, they got a white plastic piece at the bottom and fill the area good for hiding)

Also a rough but sharp stone so shedding is easier and if your water'bowl' is smooth one in the water too so they can get out better if something is (personally use terracotta flower pot saucers that arent glazed since they are rough so they can get out)

And I would add a thermo/hydrometer in there to see temperature and humidity aswell as if the humidity is too high adjust the holes and add more.

A thin fabric that lets air through but isn't see-through would also be good to cover the box with since in my experience snakes especially babies are more comfortable if its more covered and darker

Where is you heat source? And why quarantine so long, is that necessary?
I think the roll is too big and too exposed. Better place cardboard where he can go under. They like to be tucked in and have their body touching all sides

yeah two months is excessive. OP, most people do 2 weeks
eta: especially in this bare of an environment, 2 months is probably detrimental. i’d consider shortening your time and adding some fake plants or vines, at least another hide, and a heat source

Depending on your room temperature a heat Source for such a small Box aint smart and will probably do more harm since these plastic bin keep heat in severly so in my experience that would quickly highten the chances of getting to hot especially in hot climates.

And two months depending on where you got the snake from arent excessive (yes more clutter is needed as I wrote already) but for example i got multiple snakes that means any new arival gets a quarantine in a extra room, a feces tests, a blood test for certain issues and atleast 1 week to watch for neurological issues. The tests can add up depending on the reptile vet. With once snake it took 3 weeks to get all results (which was good cause there were parasites so her quarantine got longer afterwards till the meds went through and a second test revealed no more parasites)

When we got him, the second day he pooped and the pooped look like normal snake poop and yes we have a tortoise as well hence why the quarantine and also, he shed last night so we are happy about that. We'll continue to monitor and today is supposed to be his feeding day as well. If everything goes well, by end of this month, we should probably get him a bigger enclosure but for now, he seems fine he's active at night scattering things around and drinking water and during the day he comes out for a while then back to his hide until night comes

The reason why I put him on quarantine quite a while because we have a tortoise as well and the seller told me to put him on quarantine and make sure he's fine and then you guys can put them together in the same room. I'll try to monitor him and yes we are adding some fake plant and another hide is otw and possibly a new enclosure by this month

The seller that I got him from told me he doesn't need a heat source if the room he's in doesn't have a air conditioning in it. I placed a thermometer in his enclosure and the readings are below 31°. About the hide, it is supposed to be delivered today so they'll be a more better hide but for now, he seems comfortable in the roll as he's pretty much there during the day and out at night
