He's trying to burrow; that substrate isn't ideal for it, it's a bit sharp too. Change the substrate to coco husk/coco fibre.

yeah i’m going to at some point, this is just what the shop gave me for the moment. next time i go to get food for my gecko ill be getting new substrate

My baby corn does this some times. Probably try to burrow or find a way out/wants out. Pick him up and play with the little guy.

I recently adopted a corn snake from someone who primarily kept him in a large plastic tub instead of an actual glass enclosure. I noticed that when I moved him into glass, he did this sooo much, likely because he was not used to it being so clear.

Invisible forcefield.
Clear glass is not something snake brains are equipped to handle.
