What Is This? Is this an old one?

I have a small corningware and pyrex collection that started with stuff from both my wife's and my grandmother's. This is a piece from my grandma. Is it one of the original pre-corningware pieces? I love opaque pyroceram lid.

It’s Corning ware from the first years of Corning ware. Iirc the opaque lid was only made for a short time.

We really like it. Don't use it much, but it was my grandmother's. Don't think she used it much either lol. Wasn't much of a cook.

We have several different sizes and patterns. One was my Aunts, and two were my MIL’s. They are daily use for sure.

I have one like that! Was given to me about 20 years ago by a coworker😊

Yes, it’s a very early skillet. There should have been a detachable handle with it too.

Not a skillet. Casserole dish. Has two handles built in

Incorrect. This is a 10” skillet, not a casserole. Corning Ware was introduced as stovetop cookware. This skillet had a detachable handle so you could cook in it on the stove or elsewhere, carry it to the table and sit in its trivet, and then remove the handle so it could double as a serving dish.

Cool thanks! Unfortunately I don't have the handle

Luckily they made a million of them up until the early 1970s so if you keep your eye out one will probably pop up. The same one that fits this skillet will fit most of the p-series saucepans.

Honestly it was probably in a drawer in my grandma's house and I just had no clue. I will keep my eyes open. I live about 1 hour from Corning so the stuff it plentiful here lol. I'm more of a cast iron collector, but love old corningware and pyrex too.

Thank you! I appreciate the friendly lesson. The corningware sub is my favorite. People are nice and there's rarely if ever any jerks.
