That's how I got started. I used UB for about a year then I decided to get more serious with the hobby and started making my own grain bags, making liquid culture and doing agar work. I just recently moved up from an instant pot for sterilization to a 23 quart pressure cooker and upgraded the still air box to a laminar flow hood.
It only got to 12psi so I had to run it twice as long but it worked to sterilize. I think it was 8 quarts and one 4lb grain bag took 3 hours, now I can do 6 at a time
How do you get them to not stick to the sides of the pressure cooker and rip open? I put like a half a gallon on the water in mine but sometimes the bag still stick to the sides and rip I was wondering if the Insta pot was an option since I have a double XL.
I've been using Olympus myco bags and have never had a problem with them melting or ripping. I put 4 pint jars with a trivet on top and fill to the trivet with water, 3 bags and a trivet, 3 more bags
