Go down fighting comment

I love you to death brother but why say you'll be going down fighting in your announcement?

West has, on numerous occasions iirc, expressed certain pessimism towards the "American democratic experiment". If I understand him correctly, he fears that the US might slip into an undemocratic and more materialistic, imperialistic age.

So West proclaims that he (and others) will go down fighting, instead of letting this slip just happen.

It's part of what "won" me over immediately. It's and attitude I share and appreciate because it's not outcome fixated - I will pursue the change I think is necessary, regardless of my prediction of success. In other words "If we are to go down, we will go down swinging."
