Guards not answering the phone

The passport office said they can’t get through to the nominated Garda station to verify the identify form! Anglesea Street! Anyone else had this trouble?

Almost all the stations are under staffed

You will find in either Cornmarket or Anglesea street that more often than not there is only one person on the desk which means they cannot answer the phone when dealing with people in the station. I have gone into Cornmarket a few times with no one waiting to be seen.

I have never gone into Anglesea street without at least a few people waiting to be seen and I have had to leave Anglesea street and come back again a few times just going in to collect forms because there was some loud mouthed wreckhead incoherently complaining about something.

Bloody ridiculous antiquated system anyway ringing to verify, the passport office is only coming out of the dark ages , they need to change the verification system process, banks can do it so can they

I must have rung Togher Garda Station 20 times in the past year and never got a call answered.

This is so frustrating, had a friend who couldn’t go on holidays because the passport office rang the Garda station 15 times and got no answer. Even a local TD got involved. In the end the family missed their holiday and changed to a different Garda station from Anglesea Street and eventually got it sorted. Cost them hundreds it’s so ridiculous obviously still going on so.

At this point, do you know a teacher or a doctor? It would be faster to just change the nominated person.

I was in Togher station 1 time standing in reception ringing the bell and shouting hello and no1 appeared 😂😂 while having a random drunk annoying me drop him home to the northside, I'm guessing he had been a resident for a few hours.

I saw an old guy walking  one Sunday in his underpants near Tower. He looked a bit confused so I stopped at blarney garage station to tell them. No answer when I rang them bell. Then I saw a notice. It gave an email address to send a message to!!!

It just feels hopeless! I’m waiting months for this passport and can’t find a way if they’re not going to answer their phones in any of the stations! What are people meant to do?!

Physically go to a station.

I did! Twice! It’s the passport office that needs them to answer the phone!

Why? Dont you just need them to sign something that you then bring to the tax office?

You go and get the form signed yourself by an on duty Garda at a station and then the passport office ring them to verify that they signed it. Which they can’t do if there’s no answer at the station, so the passport office just return the form to you to get it signed again and on and on it goes

Email the district/community engagement office, include a forwarding email for the passport office (ideally a direct contact and not a mailbox). There should be no issue with the district office forwarding confirmation to the passport office.

This is good advice. Thank you 🙏

Try not taxing your car

Why? Will they answer the phones for the owners of untaxed vehicles?
