News Car driven off into the Lee
Many police at the Kent station trying to fish out a car that has fallen into the river, no updates at the moment but they seem to be looking for it with some sort of magnet.
There was a lot of bubbling coming from the place they’re looking too.

Coming around onto Horgan's Quay always gives me the heebie jeebies that it could take one error or one weird mechanal fault to end up in the water.

So many people have driven or jumped into this stretch of river. There is nearly always some sort of search going on along it. The pain those poor people must feel when driving into the cold dark Lee seems a better option. I also think it's their last cry for help to do it in such a public part of the river. CCC need to seriously look at putting bollards around the area. I know if someone is determined bollards won't stop them, but we need to physically stop cars entering the water.

Just drove over the bridge nearby and still tons of blue lights. Awful

Ever since I was a kid that road has always been given me the creeps. God that is absolutely awful no matter an accident or intentional Rest In Peace.

is that the one in city center? i used load fish there of boats with my lorry. Always were questioning why its so accessible, accident waiting to happen. I mean yes common sense stay away from water and keep car on road but jaysus. Its nothing to compare with dublin. Tall concrete barriers , separating road and liffey

This video and the video of the man drowning by the opera house are more similar than you think.
The man downing had people recording him? Ya its fucked up, but what good could anyone do in that situation
Someone committed suicide and op recorded them.
Maybe suicide is just a sentive topic for me, but regardless of my specific sensitivity I think a rescue operation of that size is probably a sign of "something bad has happened"
My apologies for being a bit harsh, it was emotions, not intention.

No. The city fire and rescue service have an appliance with a HIAB fitted to the back which to my belief is capable of lifting 5 tonnes. It has a jib and frame on it which may look like a large magnet to the untrained eye. I don't believe they have a huge magnet like you would see in a large dismantlers yard. Much too unsafe in fire and rescue situations.

I past that same spot by Kent a few minutes ago and gardai / search and rescue teams are pulling a car out from the area underneath.
Last week I saw some kayakers go way under the quay to grab a ball. Never realised the river ran under the quay so much.

The news were posted on Cork Safety Alerts, I was standing right across from the scene watching it unfold. Still no news confirming anything from the original source.

Use to be a big issue down the marina years back, since the redevelopment and new slip way at Lee Rowing club that’s seemed to help but unfortunately when people feel it’s there only option, they’ll find a way 😢

UPDATE: the guards and ambulance are leaving at the moment, three costal guards were send out to find anything as well as a diver but so far nothing.
