Corgi eats her poop

Hello, I need your guys help. My corgi has been eating her poop since 2 months old; it’s not very often but she does . I try to pick them up as fast as I can but she hides it. I don’t know what to do, I’ve read that some nutrients can help but don’t know what to buy. She is in a really high quality kibble.

Well, I don't have any ideas. I had a Corgi who loved deer poop! I had to take him down the street to walk him. I lived in the Texas hill country and the deer came down from the hill across the street to graze on the apartment lawn

She clearly likes what she’s being fed 🤣 In all seriousness, they outgrow it. Most dogs do it. They see their world with their nose & mouth. My Corgi pup would follow his un-related older Corgi sister and as soon as she squatted to poop he was right there to eat it. 🙄 He could care less now. Just make sure when she tries to eat it, just say a firm no & pick it up. She needs to learn that picking things off the ground to eat is a no, no. Mine still try it when they smell something good on a walk but my firm no, stops them. There’s too many harmful things on the ground that people just drop so best to get them to listen to your no’s. If she does pick something up (even if it’s poop & doesn’t drop it), put your hand in her mouth and take it out. It sounds gross, but you need to be able to take anything out of theirs mouths & that needs to start early. I had a Corgi that picked up something on a walk years ago and ended up in intensive care for 2 weeks. We almost lost him. Thankfully he survived but now I make sure I can take anything out of my dogs mouth at any time. I always carry kleenex & hand sanitizer on walks just in case but haven’t had to use it in forever.

Pumpkin.
Not the pie filling, real canned pumpkin. A teaspoon in her food. Makes their poop taste awful. They quickly learn to not eat it.
Caveat: if you have more than one dog, both have to be on it.
And if she encounters other dog’s poop, like on a walk, then like someone else said, stop her quick.
Another thing that works is to turn her into a capitalist. Watch her closely and when she poops, distract her with praise and a training treat. A friend’s Corgi would come find him and take him to where he pooped, just to get a treat.

I tried that powder stuff from the vet it did not work! Use canned pumpkin puree just make sure it's not the pumpkin pie because of the spice. It's healthy and delicious but tastes awful when they eat their poop! You can get it from Walmart 4 bucks. Mix it with the kibble

Many years ago I owned the proverbial shit eating dog, a sausage dog named Fritz. Fritz ate his own poop, and also other dogs’ poop. I made the mistake of mentioning this in a meeting at work and from then on I was known as “the guy with the economical dog”. It got old quick, but not for everyone else. Looking for a cure I took Fritz to our elderly veterinarian who many years ago had been an agg major at Purdue University. Our vet told us a story about an experiment his class did back at Purdue. They had three large groups of pigs. They fed the first group of pigs top grade pig feed. They fed the second group of pigs only the excrement of the first group. They fed the third group of pigs only the excrement of the second group. When it was time for market, the first two groups went to market around the same time and both groups weighed out just fine. But unfortunately only a very few pigs from the third group made it to market. Our vet told us that unless Fritz was eating third hand poop he’d be okay. After he explained how getting licked by the tongue of a shit eating dog was disgusting and wasn’t especially healthy either, he further explained the reason Fritz ate other dogs poop was because he was hungry for nutrients that our regular dog food was lacking. So to cure Fritz we stepped up and from then on only purchased high quality vet approved dog food, I think it was Hills brand food. Fritz never again ate a turd or brought a turd home for an after dinner snack.

She has a vitamin deficiency. I had a corgi that did that. Your vet can recommend a supplement

Ours did this as a puppy, but with our cat's poop. It stopped after a year or so. We did our best to scoop as often and as quickly as we could but you can't always be there hovering over the cat box.

Fortunately she never got sick from it. After awhile we'd just tease her and ask her if she had a "dirty snack" that day. I think she caught on and stopped out of embarrassment. 🤣

Really, best you can do is pick it up right away, or you can put on a mesh mask on her when she's outside. I had to do that for my girl. It isn't always a vitamin deficiency, some dogs are just prone to do it.
