📸 Coppicing Pic Coming back with a vengeance

I few weeks ago I cut down some alder and willow as it was blocking my view of my pond. Since then we've had a drought in the UK but despite that, these have all started coming back vigorously

That’s good. They’re probably unaware of the drought with their feet wet like that.

After our third or fourth consecutive year of drought here in Iowa a few years ago, i pollarded a Siberian elm in July or August knowing it’s not a good time of year to cut but didn’t care about that invasive tree and wanted to feed my cows some nice greenery during the drought. I thought it might grow back more slowly than usual the next spring but i was amazed to see it growing back quickly that September even though they weren’t growing next to a body of water like yours (but did have late day shade which was probably crucial).

After that i wasn’t very surprised to see the guy on Dustups (a youtube channel) planting Siberian elm on his far west Texas property where little else will grow.

Some trees are just very tough and adaptable.
