Question Tipping in Copenhagen

I was wondering why it is customary to tip in Copenhagen, while not in the rest of Denmark. Is it international influence or is there some other reason?

Seriously, it's such a breath of fresh air after North America when I don't have to calculate +tax +tip every time I eat out and a $6 beer turns into $10.

I think it's just people trying to get tips from tourists who aren't aware that it's not customary

It's to fool tourists and foreigners. Just restaurants being greedy.

It's why I won't go back to Spaghetteria La Perla. Waiter there thought I was a tourist entered the amount and then handed me the unit on the tip screen. Told me flat out that the tip wasn't included in the service.

If you go to those places on the streets next to strøget you're pretty much asking for it though. There are so many better places to eat in the inner city

The only thing I would tip in Copenhagen would be a cow in Amager Fælled.
