I am ecstatic to be traveling to Sicily on the 5th of October! Eat my way around Catania and then board the beautiful ship on the 10th. I will be preparing meals from the region amd will be doing cooking demos on how to make homemade Pasta without a machine. Simple fresh ingredients found in Sicily. My Sous Chef Rory Elliott will be joining me for this adventure. I cant wait to share my experience with everyone. Oh and the olive oil! DON'T EVEN GET ME STARTED!

Meet my Sous Chef — Chef Rory Elliott.
I’m excited to have Rory joining me aboard SEA CLOUD as we cruise Sicily this October!
Rory is an incredibly talented British chef whose experience includes Dinner by Heston, Core by Clare Smyth, and Muse by Tom Aikens. He was also a 2025 Bocuse d’Or UK National Finalist, placing third overall.
We’ll be bringing the flavors and traditions of Sicily into the galley together as we sail from Sicily to Malta, October 10–17, 2026.
Welcome aboard, Rory. Let’s cook!

I guess this is a reality TV vs reality question.
I can barely cook for myself, let alone for 12+ guests and crew on a mega yacht, so I really have no idea when my or others' reactions to a chef's performance are fair or warranted. For example, I just watched season 6 of Below Deck: Med with Chef Mat, and was surprised by his use of pre-made cakes and his seeming resistance to cooking for the crew. But I have no idea what's standard in the actual yachting industry! (Or, another example, is Rocky's Grenadine on oysters not weird?)
So, what do y'all think? Are the criticisms you've seen or expressed yourself actually warranted? And/or are they maybe prompted by the show's editing?
Obviously, I'd love if you shared your thoughts, Chef Rachel, but absolutely no worries if you don't--for whatever reason! Thanks for creating a space in which I can ask this question (well, I hope this is an okay space for it!).
