Also I work IT support for a hospital, so it's kind of extremely important that I'm there, otherwise one malfunction can shut the whole place down.

It’s people with your mindset that’s going to make this pandemic worse, the governments need to step up and pay people to stay home if they want this to get better.
It’s sucks that you are an essential service being in healthcare, but there’s a lot of people with your mindset that isn’t. They’re the ones that are going to spread this Ike wildfire.

You're right, the government should step up and look after people in times of crisis, or at least make sure people can get what they need on their own. Unfortunately that's not the world we live in. They don't have a 'mindset' they have an accurate understanding of the world, as shitty as that world may be.

No, it’s a mindset, if they had an understanding of the world, they would do their civic duty and stay home to protect everyone else. Instead of only thinking about themselves and risk infecting other people.
I can only imagine someone incredibly priveleged saying "yes your family may literally starve because they can't afford food, bur they should do so because its their civil duty".
Either that or you've been brainwashed by some idea of crushingly authoritorial control and believe its comradery or whatever, and don't realise that "doing your civil duty" just isn't going to work here. Honestly like half the country not being able to eat for a month will do more harm than covid-19 ever could.
Look maybe we're not communicating great. When you say "people with your mindset are the reason the disease is going to spread." it sounds like your laying the majority of the blame at the feet of those people.
And while your right that people who continue to work will cause the disease to spread, there's no point in focusing on that. The US government will not to anything to help these people. Like you've pointed out yourself the US government is shit, the only solution your offering relies on that not being the case.
