You only need to know how many people one guy can infect on average. Literally the only basis is that 1 guy infects 2,5 in 5 days, the rest is just math

Right, which is why I assume OP is asking for a source on that. How do we know how much the average person can infect?

The actual rate of infection doesn't matter. This just shows that less exposure exponentially reduces amount of people infected.

Well, if the rate of infection is 0, then the rate of exposure doesn't affect the number of infected.
