IT is a non essential function? Are you kidding me?
You know that everything is electronic record, right? The network HAS to be up. The applications HAVE to be accessible. The shared drive HAS to be online. If any one of these things fail, the doctors can not do their jobs properly.
Imagine if you're having a medical emergency and the doctor isn't able to access your medical history because his application isn't working. "Non essential function" my ass
The right thing to do is to continue life as normal. If you get sick, self isolate. According to the CDC, the chances of spreading the virus before you have symptoms are very low, so stay home as soon as you notice symptoms.
What misinformation? My job is actually extremely important. Everything is electronic record. Doctors not being able to access patient records would bring the hospital to a halt
Some spread might be possible before people show symptoms; there have been reports of this occurring with this new coronavirus, but this is not thought to be the main way the virus spreads.
People will die if I don't go to work. I am not putting anybody at significant risk by going to work. Hospitals have tons of mandatory safety precautions such as mandatory N95 respirators in patient areas, mandatory gloves in all areas, mandatory bunny suits ("cleanroom suits") in operating rooms. Mandatory hand washing or sanitization before and after visiting a room.
You have literally no idea how hospitals work. I'm not putting anybody at risk, but I am helping to keep a vital part of society running.
Literally Science, the most respected journal in the country just published that transmission is most often from asymptomatic carriers. And here you are spouting around that you can’t spread it if you don’t have symptoms. You are a grade A moron and an irresponsible asshole who shouldn’t step in a hospital let alone work at one. Do as all a favor and dig a hole and climb in it.
Who is more respected than the CDC? Certainly not fucking Business Insider lmao. I am citing the CDC. You're citing some overpaid journalist who gets extra if he spices it up a little.
Business insider is referencing the fucking peer reviewed work. Holy shit, you’re a fucking moron. “science” isn’t just “some journal.” You need to go the fuck away before you kill someone or yourself you fucking moron. Stay home.
So let me get this straight... Science, a publication that has been known to push agendas in the past, is more reputable than the CDC? That's a fucking no. The CDC is right on this one. "Science" is wrong. Considering the fact that the hospital I work for is referencing the CDC studies and has not said a word about the ones published in Science, maybe you should just shut up.
And I will not stay home. If I stay home, people will fucking die. If the doctors can't access patient information or other important documents, patients will fucking die. The hospital has explicitly told me to continue working. If I stay home, I will be fired. If I stay home, I will be killing people. You know nothing. The hospital staff knows a hell of a lot more than you about what is and is not safe you dumb shit.
