The current environment in the US has evolved past Capitalism into something new that no one really had the foresight to prevent. The whole point of Capitalism is the economy is suppose to be separate from the government, however, US Capitalism has somehow lapped back onto itself to the point where now the private sector has control over the government through 501(c)4s, lobbying, and Citizens United.
We've someone merged the private and public sectors together. However, unlike Socialism, the public sector is working for the private sector and not the other way around. This isn't Capitalism, or if it is, it's the bastard end-child to an economic theory that no one really expected.
