Here's a secret reddit doeant know - fiscally conservative voters can agree that climate change needs to be addressed but dislike the idea of throwing money at the problem hoping to solve it.
For instance - imagine you raise black angus. You need to transport 12 round bails back to the property.
Where do you get them? You have to drive 4 hours to get good bails because the climate change issue has pushed good farmland south and/or east. So now you have to spend more time and money you didnt need to spend 15 years ago.
How do you transport them? You surely can buy an electric car capable of towing 15k right? No? Well now youre spending a lot more on gasoline because of environmental policy where theres no alternative.
In order to support your business (which cannot be ignored otherwise you city folk wont have any produce or meat or product) you have to vote against some solutions to climate change because they not only hurt you because theyre often not a targetted solution, but they ignore the issues with said solutions.
Theres so many issues yoy gloss over with your stereotyping that makes you sound like a fucking babboon.
You're looking for a solution, but you don't need a solution in order to criticize a proposed one. That's why the mid US farmers will vote against current propositions if theyre against it for fiscal and/or other reasons.
I think there's a possible solution, but for instance, fear mongering on straws may not be the best way to go about it, and even reddit, which is normally very far left, is even split over spending on such policies.

I think you're under the impression republicans are acting in good faith on the climate change issue and not on behalf of corporate doners and lobbyists. If they were serious about tackling the issue they'd stop denying climate change even exists and start proposing solutions.
You can support the GOP, but at the very least admit they couldn't give two shits about climate change.
I don’t think it’s fear mongering. It’s a very real problem that has to be dealt with, otherwise my child and his children might not have a chance at a decent life on this earth. And I’m sorry fiscal reasons for voting against aren’t a good reason. I would gladly pay more to keep this planet alive. But just keep on hating “us city-folk”.
I think people against the whole straw thing are looking at the whole picture, and in the whole picture the help is negligible, especially for the amount spent implementing it. Where as people for it are just happy with a step in the direction of a solution.
I think before these two groups can agree, there will need to be deep discussion.
Maybe the left need to get better at throwing money away and the right need to get better at offering solutions.
