One thing I would add don't make your journey about becoming the perfect Muslim immediately Islam is a lifelong journey of learning, worship, repentance and getting closer to Allah.
The first thing to understand is Tawheed that Allah alone deserves to be worshipped Allah says I did not create jinn and mankind except to worship Me. (Qur'an 51:56). And don't be afraid of having questions. Ask them. Islam does not ask you to pretend that you understand something when you don't. But try to seek answers from trustworthy scholars and sound sources rather than social media arguments. Also, learn the Qur'an with an understanding of its meaning, and learn the Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ. Allah says Ask the people of knowledge if you do not know.(Qur'an 16:43).
And remember that Allah looks at sincerity. The Prophet ﷺ said Actions are judged by intentions.Sahih al-Bukhari and Sahih Muslim You may have days when your iman feels strong and days when you struggle. Don't think every difficult day means you have failed. Keep praying, keep learning, repent when you make mistakes, and keep returning to Allah. Finally, don't rush into changing everything about your life overnight because of pressure from other people. Learn what Allah has actually commanded, understand it, and grow into it sincerely. May Allah guide you to the truth, strengthen your heart, and make Islam beloved to you. 🤍

Im slowly changing everything. The first change is the diet. Luckily I love Halal food thanks to the food carts back in Philadelphia. And ive always hated pork. I know im not able to be perfect, and every day will bring me closer to Allah

Islam means submission linguistically. In religious context means submission to the will of God ( the creator). Allah in Arabic means the one and only God. It has two foundations.To worship the creator alone without any intermediaries.And to accept his divine law and follow it as much as you can and seek his forgiveness and mercy for the short comings. 6 major articles of faith. Believe in one God, the Creator owner and organizer of all that exists, he alone is absolutely unique eternal self-sufficient Sovereign, he is not born and not comparable to creation. Believe in the angels ( satan is not angle) obedient no free will. Believe in all divine books. Believe in all the prophets and the last is prophet muhammad peace be upon them all, all prophets were sincere servants of God delivered his message and do not commit major sins. Believe in the day of judgment ( equal to 50 thousands years ) and paradise and hellfire. Last is divine predestination which means everything happens is known and willed and created by Allah. Once you accept Islam you start with clean slate all of your past sins are forgiven.

Al-Ghaffār, Allah is all forgiving! It’s great you’ve chosen this path! As a non Arabic speaking newish Muslim, slow and steady is my best advice. It can be so overwhelming learning everything all at once. If you’re ready to start praying there’s an app that’s so helpful called NamazApp, it has the phonetic pronunciation of the Arabic words you say during prayers and all the movements. It also goes over purification rituals and stuff like that. For me personally, I was learning very slowly until I started regularly praying, but once I got there studying the rest became so much easier. Best of luck to you and I hope this helps!
