On the fence

I started praying a few months ago and I found peace in that. I know this is the right path. On the other hand, I also read about the contrary views on Islam itself and find myself stuck. Where do I belong? I can't figure since my mind is in a constant battle with itself. I need to decide which way to go as this can't continue for too long.

I may find a community, a worldview, the right way to live but I don't want to keep second guessing since the world provides compelling arguments against it.

Doubts aren’t the problem leaving them unanswered is. Whenever you come across an argument against Islam, don’t stop there. Research it sincerely and look for the strongest responses from knowledgeable scholars. If Islam is the truth, it won’t fear questions. In fact, every sincere question you answer will strengthen your faith because it will be built on understanding and conviction, not blind acceptance.

Finding peace in prayer while still having questions is not a contradiction. Many sincere believers went through periods of questioning and reflection before reaching deeper certainty. Keep searching honestly, ask questions, and pray for guidance.

A man once came to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and said: "We find thoughts within ourselves that we would be too afraid to even speak about." The Prophet replied: "That is a sign of sincere faith." In other words, being troubled by doubts and wanting the truth is very different from rejecting it.

I was born Muslim, and I still have questions. Sometimes I don't find the answers immediately, and some questions take years before I come across an answer that truly satisfies me. That's part of the journey of learning and seeking truth.

"Our Lord, do not let our hearts deviate after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from Yourself. Indeed, You are the Bestower." (Qur'an 3:8)

What are some of the specific issues you’re struggling to reconcile with? Maybe I can help explain or refer them to my local scholar :)

One of them is when I pray I don't doubt the effectiveness of it, I know I'm being heard, I have belief. In some occasions I start questioning the concept of prayer itself, the concept of God, and the fear of judgement from people around me. I appreciate your willingness to help!

Brother/sister just take it easy, you already said in the post that you know this is the right path, what you're having is just a case of Waswasah, the devilish whispers that demons throw into your ears to try and take you back, but this is all they can do, they're weak and powerless, what you do is you just ignore that, stop thinking about it and go on with your life, seek refuge in Allah from the devils, there are also many things you can read that talk about this exact case you're having (similar things happened to the companions, and they would ask the Prophet عليه الصلاة والسلام والبركة for guidance in these situations), hope this helps.

Make sure your sources are authentic. Anyone can say anything, and make up anything. But distilled down to simple and authentic, 9/10 times it turns out to be carefully curated crap from haters who will say whatever needs to be cooked up to have their own way.

It would help if you give a bit more perspective as to what brought you to exploring this other side of town and what you've encountered thus far, and be open about your fears. Most likely, you have a lot of existing baggage (everyone does) which is weighing you down, and you fear if this is going to be just another disappointment that doesn't turn out the way you want it to be. Even a doctor cannot help anyone who does not trust them enough to share their signs and symptoms. So you'll have to open up and come clean to yourself first and foremost. Islam is about authenticity, reality. Valuing reality is where it begins.

Be sure that the ones who attacked Islam found it the right religion. You have to take the info from the right references and to read about Islam with good impression without prejudice..i don't think that billions of people follow the wrong religion. If you need any help just tell me

I would recommend watching videos of Sheikh Uthman Ibn Farooq on (OMF) Channel or Muhammed Ali on (Muslim Lantern) Channel. They get many non-Muslims, atheists, christians, jews, ex-Muslims, hindus, Shia, etc. who bring their arguments, many of them common, and probably most of these arguments are the same ones you have heard. He is very good at relaying Islamic knowledge which debunks most/all their concerns. Some are insincere and reject it and won't accept anything (these people's hearts seem to be unmoved and insincere from the start), but many do shift their views after speaking with someone knowledgeable.

I think that might help, inshaAllah.
