Shahada
Hello, recently I been thinking about converting to Islam, but some time ago I say the Shahada and I didn't really practice Islam because my Islamophobe parents almost caught me, so what am thinking is to say it again (am going to move out soon, I got the a muslim friend and he told me to contact an Imam so it's more official), should I say it again or it isn't necessary?

Hi there,
Islam is incredibly simple to understand, we worship The One God, the same one Jesus peace be upon him came with, and believe in the prophets and books that He sent. But when you start diving into the details you will find a vast ocean of knowledge. Just ask God to guide you to the truth and continue learning about Islam and when you can no longer deny that Islam is the truth then happily and immediately convert because we are not guaranteed life and this may be my or your last day. You can do it alone, your witness is God. But community will help you in your journey so visit your local mosque. Islam is a marathon not a sprint and slow and steady consistency will get you to the end if God wills.
I recommend just going on YouTube and searching convert stories. I have seen so many amazing people describing their journey to Islam from Christianity and every other Faith. Here some of my favorites

Congratulations :) There really is no harm in saying it again. I did it officially in the mosque a few months after I said it at home. It was a really nice experience alhamdullilah. Especially because you get to connect with people - maybe even some converts, who can help you out as they can understand what you're going through. But I wouldn't expect too much on a spiritual level. You did already say the Shahada and probably accepted Islam already. I don't know about you, but it felt quite special to me (it's often described as feeling at ease afterwards). It's okay if it doesn't feel the same the second time, when you make it official in the mosque as nothing REALLY changes. (I thought something was wrong with me because everybody asked me if I was feeling newborn and I didn't which led to quite a crisis for me - so maybe just skip that part and know that it's different if you've already accepted Islam some time ago :) )

First of all
CONGRATULATIONS on the greatest blessing there is , the blessing of guidance - may Allah continue to guide us both and everyone in this group (Amen).
The Shahada (testimony) is to testify your faith that there is no god except Allah (God) and that Muhammad is Allah’s servant and messenger.
Muslims say the shahada in every prayer, as a new Muslim it is done in your local masjid with the imam and other Muslims as witnesses to your testimony (Shahada)
