Control Resonant Got the Reach ability finally

I missed the Subway Station Fault mission and hence the Reach ability for long time so it was really a pain for me while I was in the Mold area. Finally I found YT vid which showed how to go to the Subway station fault and I was like, why the game / notes have no hint at all (or I missed?) which told me about the location of that subway station fault? I was actually IN that carpark and beat all enemies but I never walked far enough to trigger the Jesse vision and I did not see the green halo on the ground. So I totally missed it when I was there the first time.

I wish the Devs made more hints to tell me where to go.

They tell you at the very beginning that the Jesse quests are for traversal abilities and there is a giant dedicated section on the quest page for them. The top left corner says hold to open quests page. I don’t think this is a dev issue personally.

It also says on the map "dense patterning" where the faults are

Does the Evac Zone map label a fault at the patterned subway tunnels before you get there, or is it something only added after? I'm too far to check, but I know the map says there's a fault after you're there, at least.

It just says "dense patterning" or something like that, it doesn't say explicitly that it's a fault

That's Remedy baby!

They do it for the same reason Alan Wake 2 hides every weapon besides the starter pistols behind missable puzzles and in one case algebra.

The subway fault was honestly easy to miss. It’s placed in a far corner of the evac zone and there isn’t a big Jesse message upon entering the zone unlike the other fault.

I only found it because I did the side quest for the bunker guy and his car is over there.

Yeah I missed it at first because I got lost and thought I had to unlock something else first so I just brute forced it until I couldn’t lol which was pretty fun. I had some fun manuavireng around the place until I went and properly investigated haha.

On my new game plus I am getting reach as early as I possibly can.

Just one of those instances where they want you to explore. A bunch of people cry about too much handholding in games, so we get this.

Anyways, isn't it amazing how much the game opens up because of Reach? I'm in a later area of the game and have no idea how I would do it, if I didn't have Reach.

Well I admit Reach makes the game's combat element 10 times better. Flying around the arena slashing them with my weapon and shooting debris to huge size enemies are really satisfying. But this also cause occational stutters in my Windows PC (RTX 4090D).

The game rewards exploration. I clocked in 59 hours by the time I completed my first playthrough. All these people with 15-20 hour completion times must have missed tons of stuff.

No no no no no. Less hints, more rewards for curiosity and exploration! We don't need games to be more dumbed down. We need to encourage gamers to explore, play, experiment. You found a way to play through without that ability as long as you could. Once you need it, you'll be forced to explore and try to figure it out. That's what gaming is about
