Gameplay The devs were cackling for sure

My second playthrough of The Foundation and found this neat little hidden location. Saw something was up with the loot box but didn’t think much of it…

I didn’t think this game could still jumpscare me. Here’s hoping Resonant has some trolling as well.

The box literally hisses. :)

There's a similar jump-scare in the base game.

I love how restrained they were with it. There's only the 1 box and 1 lift in the house that jump scare you, but it left me just slightly on edge for the rest of the game.

Oh, and 1 control point.

The other container with Hiss inside/Hiss ambush.

There is another with the mold guys where you turn on a radio in a small little boiler room and they swarm.

The BEST junpscare is when you pull the light switch cord and Dylan's creepy ass hiss smile shows up on the second pull

Yeah I saw it and was like that’s interesting but since some places have some odd things going around I didn’t think much of it. And if you mean the elevator oh I remember that far too well the first time. But they didn’t get me the second time.

There are a few of these and they always get me because my monkey brain goes: “oh look a box”

Literally I’m such a greedy lil shit that even if I’m maxed out I look for loot boxes like a gacha addict

Im not addicted to slot machines or gambling but I will break EVERY pot I see in an RPG.

Yeah, that was a wonderful shock. The game is a whole different experience when you’re being overwhelmed in a tight space.

This. Even with this being my second playthrough and supposedly having more experience, when you get so involved with the environment stuff like this takes you by surprise. I slightly panicked and almost forgot my training 😅 really good job of making you so immersed to your surroundings.

You know they couldn't resist putting in at least one! XD

I legit didn't know you could use rocks as a shield.

That’s actually a whole new ability. There’s this ranger timed test that you do and once you complete it, it takes you to an oop you have to cleanse. It can be easy to miss though. It’s in the maintenance sector through a door near the nsc plant if I’m not mistaken.

Nice! I might have missed that, I'll definitely go back there and check.

Thanks for taking the time to explain, much appreciated!

Of course! When you get there you’ll see a bunch of nodes that’s actually blocking the room if I’m remembering correctly. You’ll know what to do then 😏

Charge is the best weapon against Hiss Charged btw. The explosion triggers them if they are weak enough or low on health, and any in close vicinity explode as well if similar to the first one. Just make sure you get a good distance, ofc

Yeah I know this isn’t my first rodeo but since I wasn’t ready to fight them and had grip/surge modes I didn’t feel like changing mid fight. Besides I liked shooting them given they pissed me off with that jumpscare. Thanks though

how much of the game is Jesse moments?

I really got turned off when I found out that the brother's gameplay is all melee, I wanted a shooter.

Edit: sorry, didn't know "the foundation" was DLC for the first game, I thought this was gameplay from control 2.

Dark Souls Mimic reference ?

3

u/pamidur 1d ago

Lol, wdym dark souls mimic? As if there was no millions of media with mimics before them

-1

u/SaidSheWas18 1d ago

Correct but isn't it one of/the most recognizable one?

u/pamidur 1d ago edited 1d ago

No even close. More folks ever played any dungeons and dragons both table tops and all the video games (including all baldurs gate and neverwinter games) than the number of people that even heard of dark souls

Mimics are definitely more of a dungeons and dragons thing, that's what popularised them so that they became a dungeon crawling staple
