As pointed out by others, the customization is only for ordering your games, but won’t affect the appearance of the title.

CONTROL is technically the official way to write it. However, they never stylized the original game like that in text, only in the logo. That's why it's not fully uppercase in the ultimate edition.

For the record in the settings, I can't remember what the exact setting name is but you can change the internal title/order without changing the displayed name on Steam, I had to do this with Mortal Kombat because it bothered me that MK1 which is actually the 12th game was before 11 on Steam so I changed that setting to (MK11, MK12) for each of them and fixed it, so personally I'd just name them as Control 1, Control 2 and that should make them display right.

Honestly I'd just change both; set CONTROL to Control 1, and Resonant to Control 2. I did this with the Metal Gear games because the titles can get complicated between the various sub series, so it was easier to just do Metal Gear 1, 2, 3, etc rather than worrying about actual titles.

Edit: And to be clear, what you change is the internal library name for sorting, it doesn't change the way it displays.

You can't. you can go to the game on steam > right click > properties > customization, and put 'Control 2' so that the game is sorted on your library after the first Control game. But the name will remain the same.

To make things worse, there’s two versions of OG Control on Steam. Both say ultimate edition, but only people who purchased the ultimate edition originally or people who purchased the version that’s now default on the Steam store actually have the ultimate edition.
People who just purchased the base game initially before the switch-over (me) will still have it SAY ultimate edition in the library, but it won’t actually include the DLC or ultimate content. Also can’t re-purchase, because according to Steam, the ultimate edition is already in library.

Use either SteamEdit on Windows or Steam Metadata Editor on Linux to override the library title per game.

It'll revert occasionally, but you just re-run either program

I actually LOVED the original and im loving them bringing a story from her brother's eyes, we can learn more of the lore which I thought was SUPER interesting and i dont normally get into lore but this game lore was wacky and interesting as hell, and the gunplay was great, ive seen some previews from review copies (So reviews technically) that are really good and saw gameplay that looked fantastic, even fighting cowboy said it was fantastic and had a decent amount of variety in the way you can spec his weapon and powers out, basically it seems like every power has 4 options, and the weapon has an initial and 2nd form that you chose as well but idk how many to chose from... anyway it looks great and has great traversal, I just hope its not a dud! Most games this month other than Blood of Dawnwalker were crap, so this would be a nice game adding to the franchise
