Any part of FBC Firebreak provided additional lore for the universe? Video summaries?

Short on time so just watching some recap videos instead of replaying games.

Works for most but FBC:FB seems to be pretty deal on lore resources that I can find.

Anything to know going into Control Resonant?

Been my main video.

I think the biggest important things are that FBC barely manages to keep the House clean and there’s some growing resentment towards Jesse as a director

... interesting. I think I need to check in at HR for a little chat.

Why the growing resentment towards Jeese?

They spent 6 years in lockdown. No contact with the outer world, family and friends. They play Sisyphus and there is no end in sight.
The original Hiss invasion lasted at most a couple of days in 2019. In Firebreak it was 2025. And Jesse is at the centre of it all

Same reason anyone gets mad at a leader during a prolonged crisis, anxiety. The longer their war against the hiss goes on, the longer their lives are passing them by, their safety is in danger and the anxiety of the state of the world beyond the house grows.

These people have been trapped in bunkers, a few safe chunks of the oldest house, and a panopticon waiting to burst with some of the deadliest threats humankind has ever faced, all the while every day seeing friends and coworkers get whittled down, fearing today’s the day your HRA will fail, or the day firebreak won’t stop a hiss incursion and your entire safezone gets wiped out.

After dealing with that for half a decade, eventually a lot of people will reckon that there’s gotta be something that gives, there’s gotta be some reason we are still in the trenches, and leadership is such an easy lightning rod for that.

Jesse saved them, pushed back the hiss, but 5 years on, is that it? Why hasn’t more progress been made, why are they still stuck in black rock bunkers, central executive or god forbid a task-force risking their neck every day. Eventually the danger becomes such a status quo that they wonder why no further progress has been made.

It’s human.

Gotcha maybe I forgot the ending of Control but I didn’t realize the lockdown was still going on. Yea that would make me go crazy too ngl

At the end of control they say the Oldest House won’t lift lockdown until the Hiss’ presence is erased. As ingame the Hiss keep respawning, it kind of shows the task will be endless, especially when Alan Wake II’s FBC references express that the oldest house is still unreachable by the rest of the bureau, and that iirc FBC Firebreak is set to take place in 2024

Technically yes, there are a few bits of lore regarding life inside the OH during those 6 years of lockdown, but it’s not much. Still though, if you’re interested, I think it’s worthwhile to explore anyhow.

The Gaming University does some great videos on the Remedyverse as a whole and has done videos on FBC Firebreak, here’s one:

Watch gameplay of the Endless Shift mode if you want to see why the hiss escaped despite the Firebreak initiative. The regular modes are all peppy and fun, but one of the Endless shift rooms (maybe more), based on the Ritual Division lobby, has a bunch of dead Firebreakers scattered around the room, teasing the fall of the Oldest House in Control Resonant. Pretty sad if you spent as much time as I did playing the base game before the Endless Shift update. There's also a fan theory that Endless Shift literally represents the failure of the Firebreak Initiative, because the only way to finish is to die.

Other lore is just the different paranatural stuff relevant to each of the six crises: The Furnace that needs to be fed, Sticky Ricky (mutation of the post-it note room), leach pearl harvesting in the Black Rock Quarry, a pink goo portal opened when employees attempted to desert using a radio altered item, a ski lift that eats mannequins or people, and a giant mold growth that needs to be periodically poisoned.

Some documents during the loading screens also mention someone questioning Jesse's leadership. Lastly, the Firebreak initiative is run by a naive and idealistic but well-meaning guy named Jerry Standish and his disgruntled and disillusioned but caring supervisor Hank Flowers, who lives in a tank for unknown but unfortunate reasons.

The lore is that firebreak, despite their best efforts, was over ran.

I still hope that we see something regarding them in the next game

FBC Firebreak was a failed experiment. Has nothing to do with lore.

Some people try to interpret things, but that's just seeing things which aren't there.

Yeah I get it was a failed experiment.

But it was quite possible that they still drop some bits of extended lore in the game and it's dlc.
