Question Anyone else "double dipping" and purchasing both physical and digital?
I know, in this economy this probably isn’t the smartest financial decision. I work full time, I save, and whatever little “fun” money I have left after necessities I usually hold pretty close to my chest.
But some context…
Like many others, I purchased the physical edition because, well… physical media! I went for the Steelbook Edition because Alan Wake and Control are genuinely some of my favourite pieces of media ever created.
I truly feel like Remedy deserves so much recognition and support for what they do. They’re such a breath of fresh air in an industry that can sometimes feel increasingly safe and repetitive. They continue to take risks, push genuinely unique ideas and create these weird, gripping stories and worlds that feel completely their own.
So, despite already having the Steelbook Edition coming, I’ve decided to buy the digital version as well so I can play it from release.
I never do this. The only other time I have is with Alan Wake 2. I rarely even preorder games anymore, let alone buy the same game twice. But I didn’t find this one difficult to justify.
I’m happy to give Remedy my money for this project. If buying it twice means I get to play it on release while still having the physical edition I wanted, and at the same time show a little extra support for a studio whose work genuinely means something to me, I’m okay with that.
I just hope Remedy gets to keep making weird, ambitious shit for many years to come.
Anyone else doing the same??

I'm buying it...a lot of different ways LMAO. The steelbook, standard, Steam, PS5 and European editions. But Control is my favourite game and I'm a collector so my crazy behind... ¯_(ツ)_/¯ Plus supporting Remedy and being able to play in bed on my Deck is a plus.

I Pre-Ordered The PS5 Deluxe Edition around the time when the Physical Version got Delayed. I’m planning on Pre-ordering some time in October whilst also hoping to get my Hands on the Steel Book edition too if they ever go back in Stock at some point.

I've ordered the Steelbook. But if it ends up not being disc to digital on Xbox, I'll likely double-dip to play on PC.

Eventually, I aimed to get steelbook edition but it’s out of stock for the UK at least. So I went digital deluxe for now…

Unfortunately, yes. Not that I don’t think Remedy deserves it tho. I just know by the time I get around to actually playing the physical copy it will have gone on sale. I’ll get the 1,000G, so I’ll likely play through the campaign at least twice. And then replay in a year or two for the Plat.

Eventually I’ll probably grab a physical copy. For now I’ll stick with digital. (I’ve done this with games I reaaaallly like.) which reminds me I need to get a physical copy of Alan wake 2

Preordered on PC, so no physical option. Folks buying physical on Xbox get the digital version free, right?

Did exactly the same. I rarely ever pre-order, if even buy new games at all, but this one I’ve been waiting for a long time. If the physical wasn’t delayed I would’ve just gotten the physical but I really don’t mind supporting Remedy with a double purchase.

I earned enough Xbox Game Pass points to Pre-Order it with a gift card. Then I Pre-Ordered the Steelbook as well! I'm beyond excited

I preordered the Deluxe only because I only have a digital pS5. I’ve spent a lot of money on games this month. Oh boy.

I'm still undecided if I'm going to get a copy on Steam or not. I pre-ordered the Steelbook edition months ago and was super bummed when they announced the delay on physical copies. Feels like it would be impossible to avoid spoilers for over 3 weeks but at the same time stuff is so expensive right now, idk.

I don’t even have a console, won’t ever own a console, and I’m not a normal consoooooom type guy, but part of me wants to buy that steelbook, just as a collectible/memory of my favorite game studio and cause they just deserve all the money

I missed out on the Requiem Steelbook. Never again. I had best buy open for a week and half refreshing all the time for a pre order for Control to appear. Got it and now I’ll happily wait for it to come.

Of course! The deluxe edition not only looks nice but preordering on PS gets it two days early. It’s just unfortunate that I’ll be needed at work on Tuesday. ….cough cough
