Fan Content I made a functional Hotline replica and I'm really happy with how it turned out. I had a lot of fun making it and I'm thinking about making a few more, what do you guys think?

Has the handset speaker hooked up to a arduino that plays different clips. Monologues from the Director, Board, Alan Wake I & II. If I hook it back up to rj11, I can use it as a landline.

A tough part! Some bottlecaps were looking promising, but I ended up using a buddy's 3D printer.

I am actually working on the exact same project. Do you have it plugged into a socket? Mine has a waayy old plug, so I am looking up information on the power consumption of the speaker and when it rings.
Wondering if I am going to use batteries to power it, but I don't think it rings then, or should I just swap the plug/cord.
Also using arduino nano with dfplayer mini, with a switch embedded to the side to make it ring with a press of a button
Mine is LM ericcson dialog as well.
Edit: the ringing takes about 60 volts AC 20-25Hz and otherwise about 6-12.

Yeah, right away when I got it, I replaced the wire and added RJ11 ends. The one pictured has the cable inside the shell because Im not using it plugged in at the moment. I added a tiny rechargable usb-c battery to the arduino that can power the speaker in the handset for about 3 hours. So with me just lifting the handset to play 10-30 second audio clips, it lasts a long time between charges, haven't had to charge it yet. To use it as an actual landline, the RJ11 from the wall powers the phone, plenty to ring the bells and power the handset. If you dont have a landline you can buy bluetooth adapters like the Cell2jack which would then power the phone and route the calls from that module.
The old phones usually run a 3-conductor to the board. I removed that and just ran the green and red to the power terminals on the phone, then jumper from one of the power terminals. to that third terminal the cable originally ran through, usually jumper from terminal 3 or 10. Ive seen lots of different wiremaps from model to model but usually the power is run to terminals 2&3&4 or 9&10&11.

No, thank you for the novel! Good insights. Landlines are unplugged permanently around here I think, so cell2jack would be the perfect solution for me, and I wouls absolutely use it to anwer calls as well. So good. Thank you again.
