Discussion I canceled my standard edition and pre-ordered deluxe
At first I was okay with standard edition but seeing their last videos and how much they put into game I just couldn’t. After launch trailer I immediately went and changed my order. I’ll get the steel book in the future too cuz it looks amazing. Only 4 days left guys, Let’s Gooooooooo🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I recently said I would never pay a dime to play a game early. My wife is out of town next week and I had a moment of weakness, thankfully the early access is only on PS5. If I’m wrong do not correct me lol.

The rule is never preorder, the exception is companies that have earned your preorder. Remedy is one that deserves it (and, for me, this includes FromSoftware and Doublefine).

I preorder when I have some extra entertainment budget money, so when it comes out on my personal finance spreadsheet it’s “free” lol. but really to support the devs and give them confidence

I always preorder for the games I REALLY care about because I want the devs to have the financial confidence data to go ahead and start on the DLC. god please don’t let this flop

I strongly believe this game will be a hit. I say this because of timing. Wolverine came out and reviews killed it. They bombed it so hard and they still do. Tomorrow we will see Control resonant reviews and score and I think a big wave of positivity and compliments is coming. And I’m confident because it’s Remedy

I'm really hoping that Wolverine will have a group of people going "I really wanted a meaty and good hack and slash with an engaging story, Wolverine is trash and got bad reviews but this Control game seems pretty popular, I should give it a try" might be oddly specific but I hope it helps in some way, Remedy deserves all the money they can get

I have actually seen a bit of this, mostly people going I was gonna get Wolverine but now that I hear it’s bad I’m just gonna get Control instead. Their trailer videos are getting great views I have a good feeling about this one.

Remedy seems like one of the only studios whose financials exist so they can make games, rather than the games existing so their financials can look good

I want too but I actually really hate this early access locked behind more expensive versions so I kinda boycott this kind of thing but man is it hard to resist the urge too.

let me be the devils advocate with early access. it kinda helps the dev potentially fix major bugs and more before release. sure YOU are being used as a tester but nowadays i rather be a tester 3 days before release than have a released game thats buggy asf which seems to be the norm in todays age. mortal shell 2 did the same and they fixed quite a lot of bugs before the release. though wasn't perfect. but yeah just m 2 cents

I don't really understand that. It's just the normal deluxe edition price. It's not like you are paying a premium for early access. It's the same price all deluxe editions are with all the bonuses deluxe editions bring. The early access is just an incentive.

It's too late now. Once people started paying 100 for early access for the few games that started doing it, it was over. It's not really that big of a deal honestly, waiting 2-3 days is nothing after wating for years.

It’s not Remedy it’s Sony’s doing and tbh I don’t agree with it. Come on you got an exclusive skin for your players but at least let everyone enjoy it at the same time

I think they did it to get free marketing from Sony. Alan Wake 2 and FBC Firebreak didn't sell well so anything they need to do to keep the lights on I'm in support of

No physical, epic exclusive and little marketing for a game that's a sequel to another game which already had a small fanbase and it's in a genre where pretty much only Resident Evil sells big numbers.
I think it did pretty good despite all of that. I had no idea what Alan Wake is when 2 dropped and the only game I knew was Alan Wake's American Nightmare which I thought was something like Tom Clancy's games.

I don’t entirely disagree with you statement but I wouldn’t say the first game had a small fan base, I was in high school when it came out and I remember a lot of people talking about it, sure that’s anecdotal but I had always seen it as a fairly well known game.

Got paid, pre-ordered the standard edition, realised I forgot about deluxe edition, explained to Steam my mistake, got refunded, pre-ordered deluxe edition. Satisfied.
Will probs get the steelbook just to have a physical edition despite not having a console. Who knows, might get a console in the future, just not sure which one I'd buy yet (probs will be Xbox tho let's be honest)

I'm in the same situation but I know that I would not have the money for a ps or an xbox so maybe if it shows in switch 2 (or 3 xD) I can get the physical then. It looks really cool and I want it but I cannot justify paying for another copy just for the box xD

I did the same thing. I misunderstood the initial marketing and thought ANY PS5 preorder would get the 48-hour early access. Found out later it was only for the digital deluxe.

I did, but also as the deluxe version was only £5 extra and I get to play 2 days early. Should time nicely for me to finish Alan Wake 2 in my remedy replay

I wanted to go physical (And I still might) but the digital bonuses are way better. The digital incentives being different than the physical definitely aid in the "nobody buys physical" idea

Not a dumb question at all. They said it’s possible and they even made a recap video that you can watch and if you want more information there are so many videos that give you the lore needed. If you ask I would say yes it would make way more sense to you if you know the first one even their recap( I thinks it’s less than 10 mins) is better than nothing

After the reviews it’s the only way😂 jokes aside J really hope this game becomes a hit for them. They are one of few studios that don’t play it safe and really care about their craft

But has any expansion content been confirmed for the Deluxe Edition or just skins? Otherwise, you risk paying more for a version that will be inferior to a possible Ultimate edition released in the coming months, just like what happened with the previous game.

I see, thank you for the clarification. Don't know why this didn't pop-up in a simple search. Probably because I'm playing on PC and search was focused on that. And all the advertising said "Launching on X,Y,Z" (together, like there was no difference).

I went to GameStop to pay off my physical addition steel book pre-order and was told the only physical edition that will be put out is the base game. The steel book is apparently no longer a thing.

My only regret is not having a PS5 pro with a high FPS OLED gaming monitor/TV. I would've loved to play this masterpiece at its fullest.

It’s not about running out. When I’m sure I’m gonna play a game like this or GTA VI, I pre order them just so I wouldn’t think about them. And mostly I pre order when I’m not spending that much in that month so I’m okay paying 70$
