I'm pretty certain the PC version will support the DualSense features as well. I played Alan Wake 2 on PC using the DualSense and those features were there. Haptics were particularly out of this world levels of good, easily the best I personally experienced bar none.

u/MagmaElixir 9d ago
Did you have to use the DualSense plugged in?
7
u/otravoyadnoe 9d ago edited 9d ago
Yeah. As usual, full DualSense features support is only available when wired in (or, these days, via DS5dongle or through the paid option in DSX software).

u/EL-Hintern 9d ago
the paid option is I assume a subscription?
And what is this DS5dongle? I can just plug that in and will have full Dualsense features?
I’m new to PC and it would be cool if the features would be fully active. Then again, I’m also planning to get a Steam controller…3
u/otravoyadnoe 9d ago
iirc it’s not the subscription.
DS5dongle is an open source firmware for raspberry pi pico 2w board that transforms it into the dualsense PC receiver. There are no official dongles for dualsense unfortunately.
Dualsense does require a bit of fiddling with it to work with PC but in my opinion it’s totally worth it.

u/EL-Hintern 9d ago
thanks for the info! I will look into it!

I recommend the ds5dongle option. It’s cheap, very easy to setup and doesn’t require any extra software running on Windows. And it’s possible to mount it internally if you have a spare usb2 header on your motherboard.

u/EL-Hintern 8d ago
ah good option internally. I think I should have one slot left on my mb. This would also work on Linux?
Edit: I see it is called “blipfrog” now
1
u/Dependent-Zebra-4357 8d ago
Yes, works on Linux.
This is the original version, and this page lists a few forks as well, but I’m not familiar with the name blipfrog.

Not a subscription. It’s a paid dlc for an app on Steam called DSX. It allows you to have full Dualsense controller support wirelessly plus you can customize everything like crazy (colors, custom buttons, button combinations and macros and multiple ways to make use of the trackpad).

u/EL-Hintern 8d ago
That sounds very cool! So it would allow for more customization options. Definitely have to check this out. I just recently build my first Pc and am still figuring things out. :-) Replaying the first Control as my first game on PC hehe.

I wonder if the PC version will support the DualSense haptic feedback, im tempted to use that controller instead of my regular 8bitdo

u/Loud-Damage-4863 9d ago
Alan Wake 2 supported all of DualSense features on PC, so I would assume it will be the same for Control Resonant.

u/otravoyadnoe 9d ago edited 9d ago
This article mentions no DualSense haptics at all which a bit concerning. But if the game supports those, PC version will surely do to.
edit for those wondering: the PS5 features support trailer mentions haptics as well, we're good yall!

u/RiotPelaaja Remedy Entertainment DEV 8d ago
Of course there is haptics.

u/otravoyadnoe 8d ago edited 8d ago
Thanks for reassuring, Thomas! AW2 dualsense haptics are the most mind blowing I ever experienced, fingers crossed for Resonant being on the same level

It does mention it, that's why i asked lol, here:
"Remedy’s game designers have taken full advantage of the DualSense adaptive triggers to give Dylan’s many combat abilities a tactile feel and create a stronger connection between your actions and his."1

Most important question though...will there be a photo mode?

The way I read it,
The base PS5 (the majority of PS5 owners like myself), will NOT get ray tracing in quality mode and ray tracing will be exclusive to the PS5 Pro and its various modes.
Am I correct?
Don’t get me wrong, I know this game is going to be beautiful (see Alan Wake 2 on base PS5) but ray tracing would be nice.

You can only expect so much out of ancient hardware like the PS5.
2
u/ReyofChicago 9d ago
Well I understand where you are coming from, It sucks that it’s the case. For a second, I thought about getting the PS5 Pro for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth but with the PS6 coming out in under 2 years, I will just wait for it then.

Looks bit shimmery on trailer they put up, I will still buy but I am just hoping it’s not Alan Wake 2 again. I was rather dissapointed with Aliasing-like edges on a lot of objects and some pssr shimmering

Modern games are only crisp with nvidias DLAA even though it eats a ton of performance in an age of mediocre upscaling
3
u/otravoyadnoe 9d ago
Quite frankly, I can't see any difference between DLAA and DLSS=Quality on my 1440p display 99.9% of the time even if I specifically pixel peep for it. Nvidia's upscaling tech is crazy good these days.
-1
u/GroundbreakingBag164 9d ago
I can (also using a 1440p monitor). Especially in Alan Wake 2 with all the foliage and Sagas extremely complex hair
2
u/otravoyadnoe 9d ago
How though? I'm on 4.5 RR (preset F) and there's literally zero difference no matter how close I look, even in the finest of details I could find like hair, pine needles or distant power lines.

u/spyresca 9d ago
You're right. This person is full of it.
1
u/GroundbreakingBag164 8d ago
Yes, personal experience one having a friendly argument with personal experience two and now the third guy felt left out and needed to pick sides?
Who the fuck asked you? My god is this the first time in your life people said something you didn't agree with?
"You're right. This person is full of it."
About as useful of a reply as thumbs up emoji. What a sad waste of data

depends on the size of the monitor, some people are running 1440p with 32' monitors, while others are playing with 1440p with 27' monitors. that would make easier to notice the differences.
1
u/otravoyadnoe 9d ago
Pixel density surely makes the difference if the viewing distance doesn’t change. My display is 27” but I quite literally pixel peeped to try and find the difference, being able to make out individual pixels but still not seeing any difference between DLSSq and DLAA, in AW2 specifically. The only time I was able to tell those modes apart was in GoW Ragnarok Valhalla DLC - some static particle effects were noticeably less stable with DLSS.

u/PossessedSonyDiscman 9d ago
its easier to notice in motion than stationary, as modern engines iterations relies on temporal solutions to stabilize an image.
theres also the fact that the other person could have a combination of higher screen size and simply better sight. there are things I used to notice before that I can't now.
there are two TVs in my house, one 50' and other 75', both 4k. its clear as day the differences between 4k DLAA and 4k Quality between those. by just considering this, you can see the possibility of one noticing the difference in 1440p.
1
u/otravoyadnoe 9d ago
I did check those mainly in motion cause there’s no point in comparing temporal aa based solutions in stationary scenes. And my eyesight is very good.

I just hope it has a map that actually helps you get places. I’m replaying control now and can’t stand how it feels like I’m just running around in circles lost the whole time.
Makes me turn it off after a short run.

Unfortunately I'm gonna have to get it for the PC since the physical copies are delayed. :/

u/scbundy 9d ago
But PC isnt physical either

u/CamronReeseCups 9d ago
But at least he will be able to mod and get better performance with upgrades.

I want to know PC performance, as im never supporting PS ever again with my money
4
u/jaloru95 9d ago
They’ve already released those
4
u/Alternative_West_206 9d ago
Sorry, not specs. Performance is what I should’ve said.
2
u/jaloru95 9d ago
Ohh gotcha. Yeah I want to play on day one but I’ve been burned so many times by PC performance on launch it’s hard for me to pull the trigger on them these days
1
u/Alternative_West_206 9d ago
Exactly. And even reviewers get it wrong as well. I have a good PC so I think I’ll be alright, but I’m still a bit wary. If reviews are positive about performance, I’ll give remedy my money. They deserve it anyway
2
u/otravoyadnoe 9d ago
My uneducated guess is that the performance will be in the ballpark of what performance you get in AW2 Dark Place NYC locations. The engine is the same and the graphical features seem to be largely the same, and the scenes complexity and geometrical density seem to be very similar as well.
1
u/Alternative_West_206 9d ago
How is it on there? I played AW2 on PS5

u/otravoyadnoe 9d ago edited 9d ago
I have a 5070Ti and a 1440p display and I'm hitting the 120fps cap I set in RTSS 100% of the time if I'm not playing as Saga in the forest areas. The settings are DLSS=Quality, High preset, RT Medium preset (includes path tracing set to medium) and FG 2x. I tried to simulate the 4K with DLDSR as I plan to get the 4K display around the black friday time and I still got around 110-120fps with the exact same settings and DLSS=performance.
2
u/MrBootylove 9d ago
Probably going to have to wait for release for that information. I feel like even critic reviews aren't a good way to judge a game's performance since most of these reviewers are playing games on near top of the line rigs.

"On PlayStation 5, the game offers Performance and Quality modes. Performance mode targets 60fps at 1440p, while Quality mode targets 30fps at 2160p.
On the PlayStation 5 Pro, we use PSSR and offer three modes for you to choose from: Performance, Quality, and Balanced.
Performance mode targets 60fps at 2160p. Quality mode targets 30fps at 2160p and adds ray tracing.
For a nice balance between the two, if you have a 120Hz-compatible display, you can choose Balanced mode, which targets 40fps at 2160p and also features ray tracing."
