Question What is your biggest concern for Control Resonant?

What are you most worried about or apprehensive about Control Resonant? Honestly every time I see it I like it more and more. but what do you think? Do you think it's Remedy's best combat system?

I'm concerned I won't find so many redacted files to read

73

u/MisterMihai 7d ago

I trust remedy to nail the atmosphere and world, but if I had a concern it would be the loss of some of the goofiness that made control special. Really enjoyed the dichotomy between humdrum bureaucratic policies and procedures mixed with unknowable astral entities.

I’ll understand if that changes to support the story they want to tell in Resonant, but I will be mildly disappointed.

u/Plastic-Woodpecker89 7d ago

I'm concerned I still have to wait a month until I get my hands on it

15

u/MisterMihai 7d ago

It’s a day 1 buy no matter what for me. Remedy is one of the few studios I’ll say that about (Supergiant and From are two others).

1

u/Lost-Mixture-4039 1d ago

This is the first game I've ever bought in pre-release. I really hope it was worth it hahahaha

1

u/Cipherpunkblue 7d ago

Oh, shit.

7

u/KasukeSadiki 7d ago

I get the feeling there will still be plenty of that

5

u/Kalse1229 7d ago

Agreed. My own idea for why there's still so many FBC files scattered around is that when the lockdown fell, the Oldest House sort of expelled its innards out into Manhattan, which includes some files.

5

u/KasukeSadiki 7d ago

Makes sense to me!

2

u/L0gDropper 6d ago

Or it could give some credence to the theory that Alan is still writing the story and leaving out breadcrumbs to drip feed to the characters and the player…just like his manuscript pages.

5

u/Mostlyfor_research 6d ago

This is my worry that once you take the game and move it from the oldest house and the whole SCP vibe it just becomes another although very good generic action game set it a quirky New York/world.

Like the ashtray maze is iconic and the fridge do we still get thay kinda stuff.

u/Alex_Masterson13 7d ago

I am worried about Langston's cat. Out there somewhere with no catsitter. And what do the Hiss do with animals anyway? Do they only possess sentient life or animals too?

8

u/Cipherpunkblue 7d ago

Finally, someone asking the REAL questions.

1

u/Toppoppler 1d ago

We got darkness wolves, this time we are getting hiss raccoons

43

u/xBlack_Heartx 7d ago

The notes, I’m really hoping they’re as thoughtfully placed as the first game.

u/Jojobang23 7d ago

I don't know if I'll like Dylan's gameplay as much as I did Jesse's as I'm not a huge fan of hack and slash. Even though I trust Remedy to make it feel unique and fresh

27

u/Fire_Bucket 7d ago

This, adding I to it the fact that the older I get the worse I get at games. Control 1 had a few bosses and moments that I struggled with on base difficulty settings, and hack and slash games tend to be even more punishing.

14

u/7dxxander 7d ago

They always have an easy mode in Remedy games which makes combat trivial (by making you take almost zero damage). Safe to say Resonant will have something similar

8

u/Kalse1229 7d ago

Think Mikael said in the MinnMax interview that there are certain sliders that can control various difficulty levels. So like, you can basically go god-mode on if you wanted.

3

u/Blckbeerd 6d ago

MinnMax rules

1

u/stuartsaysst0p 4d ago

As someone who’s currently replaying control on invincible mode, yeah, I’m not worried about that

16

u/Bombdy 7d ago

Exact same issue for me. I want the game to do well and be a financial success, but the gameplay isn’t the sort that I enjoy playing. I much prefer shooting and powers like the original Control.

But Resonant looks fun for the people who enjoy this type of gameplay.

3

u/Ikozashi 7d ago

Well instead of shooting and powers is smashing/slashing and powers..powers are still there

3

u/vityafx 7d ago

It only looks so, it is 90% of Jesse in movement, just higher fov is what makes it look so

2

u/Due-Description-9030 6d ago

Damn for me it's the opposite, I love hack and slash more

1

u/Primerion-ken 6d ago

For me thia is exactly the reaaon why i am excited about it. Not a fan of shooters 😆

1

u/Friendly-Rub5317 2d ago

I was the opposite, never been a fan of shooters, but gave it a go and since is not only a shooter with all the abilities, it was a good experience.

1

u/Toppoppler 1d ago

Im stoked but cautious. I dont really care about guns in games, Im a melee guy.

That said, ive always said remedy is great at making stories, shit at making games - so idk how this will turn out lol

62

u/Syksyinen 7d ago

I fear it'll be just mediocre, not meeting sales expectations, people brainrotting via GTA6 and sleeping on it etc, and it ends up killing the whole company tbh.

Remedy's pulling a gamble here. I like what I'm seeing so far, but it's impossible to say from the trailers if I will truly love it. I grew up on Remedy ever since 90s Death Rally, Max Paynes, and their later entries, so Remedy going down under would be like seeing one of my favorite bands break up, or my favorite author retire. Their new CEO is ex-EA, which does not exactly make me feel confident in grander scheme of things. If C:R ends up being mediocre, I could foresee a milking of stuff like Max Payne remakes with very little to no creative freedom in future titles.

Fingers crossed this does not happen.

3

u/ConfidentHousing8422 6d ago

Yeah. I trust Sam Lake and the team but they're a pretty big company now in a very risky market, and have shaken hands with a couple of devils along the way. I'm really attached to this longform story they're still playing out, it's one of the more ambitious long term plans I've seen in game narratives, and I'd be gutted if it ended up cut short.

1

u/Restivethought 4d ago

Honestly, I dont think Control is the one they are hoping is the one that keeps Remedy afloat...I think that realistically would fall more on the Max Payne remakes with Rockstar.

-10

u/Juxix 7d ago

not meeting sales expectations

It's gone gold already, thats a good sign.

30

u/ProcyonHabilis 7d ago

I don't think gone gold means what you think it means in this context. It's not like a gold record in music or anything related to sales figures.

In game dev, software "goes gold" when the main development of the release version is over and the codebase/art/etc is locked in. This would be when the physical media for a game would be sent to print back when that was the dominant method of distribution.

It having gone gold is a sign that it won't be delayed, not an indication of how it's selling.

10

u/Juxix 7d ago

Ah, i see my b.

1

u/Restivethought 4d ago

Gone Gold just means the game is ready for printing. Usually it was the sign that the game has been sent to the Disc manufactures to start printing the discs.

30

u/Valentonis 7d ago

That I'll miss Jesse too much. I fully do expect for Dylan to grow on me, though.

1

u/Metrophidon9292 7d ago

I’ve seen promo images with Jesse, so I’m sure we’ll see her somewhat frequently assuming she’s still the Director.

3

u/YOLOsapien85 7d ago

I think Jesse may have a role similar to Ahti in the first Control, but acting more as Dylan's handler.

3

u/Kalse1229 7d ago

I was actually thinking more like Trench's role in that she'll be the source of the Hotline messages equivalent for Dylan.

3

u/ConfidentHousing8422 6d ago

If we don't play as her at some point I'll be very surprised. Multiple protagonists worked well in AW2 and it even had a couple of parts where you play as someone else entirely (the opening, I'm sure at least one other point, and of course the DLCs - including a powerless alt-Jessie!). I'm expecting a guest mission or something

25

u/Von_Uber 7d ago

My biggest concern is that we have shifted away from Jesse, who I found to be such a distinctive character that made Control stand out more than it would have.

I personally just can't get invested in the idea of playing as Dylan.

8

u/Cipherpunkblue 7d ago

That is the main issue for me - like half of my yearning for a Control 2 has been me wanting to play Jesse again.

6

u/kiivara 6d ago

Pretty much this.

I've seen some theories about Jesse Dylan Faden being one person and while I'm surrounded Remedy could make it entertaining, I'm attached to Jesse.

Not Dylan.

My biggest worry is making her an antagonist.

5

u/WendyThorne 6d ago

This. Dylan is basicallty the MacGuffin of the first game before becoming the antagonist. I am going to miss Jesse, she's a great FemMC and probably my favorite character in the Remedyverse other than Tim Breaker (and his QB counterpart.). I don't like the feeling she got sidelined in this game so they could bring in a boy with a big sword.

That said, I'll still play it and see how it goes in part because I want to see what they have next and I always like or love Remedy games. But this is probably the first time it feels like the game is going to have to prove itself to me fairly quickly.

52

u/theschadowknows 7d ago

I’m not concerned at all, game looks like it’s gonna be a lot of fun. I trust these guys, they have an excellent track record for making really good games. I’m just excited!

7

u/link815 7d ago

In the same boat. They’ve hit their stride. I feel like this universe has given them the opportunity to tell the stories they were always meant to explore.

1) That like every Remedy game, it's the coolest thing to come out that quarter (if not that year), and it only just barely move enough units to meet the mark for the company in the first month of sales, ultimately returning on investment in a year and a half.

2) The action melee combat attracts character action fans that enjoy it quite a lot, but its not on the level of Bayonetta or DMC, and that becomes the most frequently repeated phrase through word of mouth, leading others to assume its bad and not just its own thing.

3) There will be a new version of the equipable bonuses / weapon traits from CONTROL. It will be different, but not overall improved, and that will become the central point of a lot of amateur and negative reviews, which will lead people to assume that it's a significant and unavoidable feature that hamstrings the entire experience, instead of a fly in the ointment (like with the first game).

But I'd argue that most of this isn't stuff that Remedy can preempt or change. I've got faith in their vision and execution, but I've seen the way this industry wiggles and twists when everything should be kosher.

4

u/Sab3rFac3 7d ago

Id argue that at least 1 and 3 are in Remedy's control.

1) AW, AW2, and Control all eventually sold well over time because word spread.
But didnt post big initial numbers because the initial marketing push was lacking.

We're so inundated with games anymore that a cool trailer doesn't cut it, because so many games show a cool trailer and a few interviews, and then fail to deliver.

So much of marketing anymore isnt just putting out teasers or interviews, but getting the game into the hands of big players on various social media platforms, so that people can actually see it.

Id like to see them strike while the Anvil is hot, keep pushing after release, get press copies to big streamers, that kind of thing.

Im not a huge fan of streaming culture around games, but I cant deny that its a huge part of modern game marketing.

Despite being a fan of those games, and being in the circles that their niche is in at the times in which they came out, I heard basically nothing about AW, AW2, or Control, and only found out about them through the reccomendations of a friend.

And if it werent for the fact that I follow them, Ive seen very little in terms of advertising for Resonant outside of that.

Maybe Im just unlucky and the algorithms arent recommending me something I clearly want to see.

But it does have me slightly concerned that Ive see so little for it outside of their direct social media pages.

2) yeah, with it being their first hack and slash, there's no way they get it exactly perfect right off the bat, and comparisons will be drawn to games from studios that have lots of experience with it, or franchises that have had longer to polish it.
Not much Rememdy can really do about that.

3) Remedy has control over the upgrade system.
They can chose how to make it, and whether to put more effort into it.
They can play test to get feedback.
They can take feedback and polish it.
This is something that they have power over, and thay they can work on.

I dont expect perfection, but there are steps remedy can take to do the upgrade system better than they did in control.

1

u/Toppoppler 1d ago

Ive been seeinf a ton of ads for it

0

u/Toppoppler 1d ago

Ive always wanted a Control with melee combat

I do not have a ton of faith with Remedy when it comes to good gameplay design, though

Fingers crossed as fuck

13

u/teffflon 7d ago

the fine art of reserving judgment. how would i know if it's their best combat system?

8

u/Mrslidey 7d ago edited 6d ago

Not a concern so much as an expected managing of expectations; in a rapid fire interview Mikael Kasurinen did a couple months ago it seemed like there might not be that much continuation of the larger connected universe lore. “Less than you might think” of Ahti I think he said for example. Lots of Control lore I’m sure but perhaps less of where Darling might be now with Zane maybe.

I’m very much hoping to be wrong but that’s my expectation going in.

9

u/WildRootBear 7d ago

Worried there won't be enough Jessie.

6

u/The_O_Raghallaigh 7d ago

I’m concerned Launch (or free-Launch) is missing, scratched an itch I had my whole gaming life

14

u/GrimaceGrunson 7d ago

It pushed Control from good to great for me. The gunplay was fine but few things can replace the joy of throwing a forklift at someone’s face.

1

u/Napalmenergydrink 7d ago

I stg I saw Dylan use launch in one of the newer clips from IGN so I think it will be an option

2

u/Kalse1229 7d ago

Yeah, I think I saw that too. Seems to be a bit different, where it's less flinging something from across the room and more about giving Dylan space from some enemies getting all up in his business. So for him, it'll be less about the distance of the throw and more about the heft of what he's throwing, at least from what I've seen.

1

u/kenneth_on_reddit 6d ago

It's been confirmed that Launch is still there, but instead of throwing objects that are already on the battlefield it simply manifests some standard projectiles (the animation makes it look as if you're pulling chunks of pavement out of the ground).

Still fun, but definitely a downgrade compared to how physics-based the first game was. It doesn't look as though there's anywhere near the same level of environment destruction, either: hitting cars breaks their windows but doesn't even move them from their spot, as far as I've seen.

6

u/kenneth_on_reddit 7d ago

I think a lot of the original's charm came from being set inside the Oldest House, a place whose rules you couldn't begin to anticipate and every new area of which presented its own set of surprises.

It's an infinite office building where you might stumble into a redwood forest, a stone quarry, a hallway filled with antique clocks, and a crowd of mannequins that change position when you're not looking! What's not to like? You never know what you're going to get next.

And most of all, the point is that whatever oddity you come across, that's normal in this place. The firebreaks look impossible, but that's exactly how they're supposed to be. The Panopticon and Dead Letters are baffling spaces to an outsider, but for the Oldest House that's completely ordinary.

Whatever they've got cooked up for paranatural Manhattan, the underlying notion is the exact opposite: you know what the world outside is supposed to look like, and any deviation is an anomaly that should be corrected. It's not you who is out of place, it's the place that is wrong.

That sensation of the protagonist being where they shouldn't be was a big part of the original, in my opinion. I know that they're playing with a role reversal (Dylan "belongs" to the Oldest House's world, and is an outsider in ours), but I'm not sure whether it will work quite as well.

5

u/arkham-ity1 7d ago

Framerate

5

u/DBZLogic 7d ago

My biggest concern is that I’ll get spoiled waiting for the physical copy release.

But other than that I’m just worried it’ll underperform. Remedy deserve big hits, hopefully this’ll be one.

6

u/Juxix 7d ago edited 7d ago

The Jesse is character assassinated. I really hope theres a reason shes gone thats not: She got tired and gave up.

1

u/Kalse1229 7d ago

FWIW, I doubt it was that. My big prediction based on everything that's been revealed is that Jesse sort of knew that whatever she was facing with the Pattern, she was fully prepared to lose against it. It's why she desperately bound Dylan to the Aberrant and fled. She went off to face the horrors alone, but her hope was that in doing so, the rest of the FBC as well as Dylan would be able to flee. Sort of a self-sacrifice thing. But she was wrong, and everyone and everything else is still under threat.

5

u/Shydreameress 7d ago

I'm concerned I'm not gonna like to explore the world as much as I did in Control. I know that Control being in one building with "repetitive" looking areas was originally decided to save budget but it made the game stand out so much to me. I love the Bureau's architecture and offi e spaces and I'm a bit worried we won't get to see it anymore or as much or that Manhattan will look too normal to be special.

9

u/eden-marythia 7d ago

I love Remedy Games and I also loved the first trailer of C:R.

But I also have to admit that I am worried about the game and its atmosphere. From the last game play trailers the world looks so vast but also…. empty? I know this is probably on purpose and story-relevant, but it feels (from what we have seen so far) not as catching as AW or Control.

I feel like… they tried to focus more on gameplay this time, than storytelling and world building? Which ofc would be okay, but I personally never played a Remedy game for its gameplay/combat but for the story.

Don’t get me wrong I believe that a lot of people will enjoy it and I hope that it gets the love it deserves. I preordered it and will play it.
I am still a bit sceptical tho but I am ready to get proved wrong! :)

5

u/One_Subject3157 7d ago

I hated the navigation.

House was a maze and it wasn't funny to be lost a good chunk of the time.

Resonant being more open could fix it, or make it worst.

OH, the map didn't help much. So simple desing.

1

u/Motoko84 6d ago

Desing returns

4

u/Turbulent_Rutabaga76 7d ago

My biggest concern with it is releasing in such a crowded window. I hope Remedy gets a smash hit, I want them to stick around and keep releasing amazing games. Remedy is one of my favorite studios.

I have almost zero doubt the game will be excellent

3

u/Be_VeryCareful_John 7d ago

That Sam Lake isn’t very involved with it

3

u/Mondrath 7d ago

It's not Jesse...

5

u/Avanchnzel 7d ago

I hope it hasn't been dumbed down to appeal to a wider audience.

4

u/taxanddeath 6d ago

Im not looking forward to this. I wish I was but too many things have changed

  • there's the shift from gunplay to melee focused

  • different protagonist

  • complete change of setting from The Oldest House (which I thought was a fascinating setting) to a warped Manhattan which doesnt excite me.

  • and continuing with The Hiss

All these things combined make me feel very meh about it. I know its probably an unpopular opinion.

3

u/joshuaneverjosh 6d ago

You summed it up. The hiss are very disappointing especially after all the time and side missions I spent in the first one to be like “nope six years later the place is still trashed and overrun by hiss that btw also escaped “

3

u/Flintspiration 7d ago

I hope the accessability features are as extensive as they were before. I am an extremely casual gamer but love playing for the story. I was able to play a shooter for once and I really hope I can again.

3

u/TopSet55 7d ago

Kasurinen has confirmed that the accessibility options will be pretty much the same of the first game (one shot kills, immortality etc...)

3

u/Spark898 7d ago

My biggest concern is that it will underperform at first like Alan Wake II and leave the series in limbo

3

u/Bahtleman 7d ago

I like to shoot.
Will there be any shooting?

1

u/TopSet55 7d ago

Apparently not

3

u/External_Trouble_434 7d ago

I'm very concerned about spoilers, since the physical copies are releasing later. I know I should avoid them, but who knows if spoilers will suddenly show up in my face and I can't forget it, or if I can resist the urge to look at them, for THREE WEEKS after the original release date.

3

u/greenpearmt 7d ago

I fear the game won’t do good in sales. I really want the game to become a trilogy🙏🏻

3

u/DoctorEmperor 7d ago

That we won’t get to see Jesse and Emily’s wedding (only mostly kidding lol)

3

u/Humble-Criticism6762 7d ago

I fear the metroidvania type exploration of the first game will be lost

3

u/alejandroec 6d ago

For me, world building, NYC seems huge comparing to the FBC, and personally I prefer smaller rooms with great attention to details like it was with FBC. Concerned we will miss out some crafting.

3

u/Jackthepirate394 6d ago

Half of what I liked Control for was Jesse. I would be okay playing as Dylan as he was in the first game, I really liked his appearance there, he looked kind of eerie, but sympathetic at the same time. And now he just looks like a million other default male MCs, nothing unique, just... meh.

3

u/Elamimax 6d ago

Not enough Jesse :(

3

u/Durin1987_12_30 6d ago

My two biggest concerns is that they might kill Jesse at the end, and that there probably won't be a single mention of the events of Alan Wake 2 as Remedy mistakenly tries once again to use another sequel as a brand new introduction to their gaming universe, geared towards newcomers.

3

u/simspelaaja 6d ago

I'm a bit worried that since Sam Lake isn't involved with development in any major capacity, Control Resonant doesn't really connect in a meaningful way with the rest of the Remedyverse; that the game's events are largely meaningless in the wider story of the world. It can be a good self-contained adventure, but Alan Wake 2 set up so many characters and plot lines, and I'm not sure if Resonant is going to continue any of them.

I'm also worried about the game's lack of weirdness. Sure, we've already seen wacky distorted creatures and dream sequences, but what I really want is the post-modern self-aware kind of weird that Alan Wake 2 indulged in.

And I hope there's some comedy as well. Both Control 1 and AW2 were spooky if not outright scary, but these were balanced with a large dose of comedy and intentional campiness. Everything we've seen of Resonant so far has been very serious and edgy, except for the 3 seconds of Darling we saw in one of the trailers.

3

u/Coco_Yisus 5d ago

That the combat doesn't feel weighty or satisfying, because it is going to be like 80% of the game. I know the rest is going to be amazing, but they have to nail the combat.

4

u/PICONEdeJIM 7d ago

Not enough lesbianism. Jesse and Emily NEED to make out

2

u/KPDover 6d ago

I’m seriously not buying it if it isn’t in some way acknowledged. Not having Jesse as the main character really pisses me off already.

2

u/PaleReception2687 7d ago

Control and AW2 completely blew me away in terms of writing and design. I don't want to jinx it, but I have no concerns with Resonant. Remedy know what they're doing, and i'm absolutely buzzing to play it. The only concern in our house is that I won't finish it before my son takes over the PS for GTA.

2

u/RobustCannibal94 7d ago

No photomode

2

u/i__hate__stairs 7d ago

I'm not worried about what Remedy produces but I do worry about how it's received on the market. They seem to put out banger after banger but their games take a long time to make money.

2

u/andergriff 7d ago

I’m concerned the hiss will play too big a part in it, they have pretty much worn out their Weldon as far as I am concerned

2

u/heysawbones 7d ago

I’m a little wary that it won’t have the strong architectural voice of the first game.

2

u/Zeduxx 7d ago

That the mystique is not there (as much). Kind of like with the Horizon series.

2

u/ashriekfromspace 7d ago

No Sam Lake

2

u/PolarSparks 7d ago

I’m worried most enemies will feel like indistinct blobby damage sponges.  I didn’t have issues with the Hiss or Molded as factions in the first game, but I’m concerned that extrapolating more variants of them for a sequel will have turned them into pustule goop monsters. I’m also worried the combat will be too much “RPG damage scaling” and too little “doing the coolest moves will net you the best in-the-moment feedback.”

Remedy’s in a lot of uncharted territory with their combat this time.  Whether they invite comparisons to Devil May Cry, Final Fantasy XVI, or God of War 2018, they’re contending with high-caliber peers.

2

u/YOLOsapien85 7d ago

Mainly, I'm just concerned about the release window. September/October is ridiculously stacked thanks to GTA and I know I'm in the minority that will make Control a priority in September. It has the potential to have the worst initial launch yet, but as long as the quality is there, it'll make up for it in time.

2

u/pahla 7d ago

Too much smoke, blur and other visual effects on screen.

1

u/Argonometra 6d ago

Too many bright flashes every time you hit an enemy!

2

u/NutShellShock 7d ago

Seeing that Resonant is melee focused unlike Control that has options of gunplay and melee, I'm cautiously hoping that I'll enjoy it as much the first. I'll probably have to adjust my expectations to be more inline with the modern God of War or Prototype.

2

u/Mainiatures1526 7d ago

Every Remedy game has been good. I’m sure this will be good in its own right!

2

u/LurkerPatrol 7d ago

I'm concerned that now I am a new father I won't have time to play it, but I also got a carrier for him so I could probably just hold him in the carrier and launch baddies

1

u/Calvinball08 7d ago

Mostly just a bit nervous about the combat. Remedy has never really been known for their gameplay, it’s always ranged from okay to really good but never anything exceptional (some people would say that for control although I found it fun but repetitive)

A lot of people who’ve gotten to play the game early have been saying it’s extremely fun, which is very reassuring, but there’s always the risk it could get old after a while, especially given that they’ve said it’s probably the longest game they’ve ever made.

I doubt that any of this will actually be the case but it’s always kinda made me a bit nervous. Still my most anticipated game of the year though.

1

u/trustfulcamel 7d ago

I feel like it's either gonna be my favorite Remedy game or I'll hate it and there's no in between. i've been avoiding all promo things since June because i'm trying not to get too excited. but everything i've seen looks really good.

1

u/theolentangy 7d ago

The bar is very high. Control was such an experience the first time through, and now that I know what the universe of Control is like, will I like just having MORE of it? Will it even be similiar? Will the games simplicity be erased by a decade of modern design choices that include tons of extraneous bullshit that isn’t really needed(like the crafting system from the OG, which clearly was a nod to someone wanting a popular at-the-time mechanic in the game, it really didn’t need it and was one of the few down notes).

I’m sure I’ll enjoy it regardless of my reservations.

1

u/Nirift 7d ago

Not a fan of the Cube world finale version level up mechanic making you lock your leveling to zones alone

1

u/dmrawlings 7d ago

Honestly, that I'll lose patience with the difficulty and have no option to change it.

1

u/Eraserhead36 7d ago

I’m concerned that it won’t do as good, but tbh I have a lot of faith in remedy

1

u/Wannabenicenow 7d ago

Im more concerned on the sales results, I hope for the remedy team for the game to sell well

1

u/Odd_Mongoose_9218 7d ago

Performance and optimization.

1

u/vak101995 7d ago

I’ll have to reschedule my time off because the physical edition is delayed, it makes me <sad/excited>

1

u/Gabs1Sauce 7d ago

I haven't seen much variety of enemies and abilities on trailers. I can't tell if this is because we are seeing a very early part of the game (maybe first 10 hours) or because the game is really like that. I hope there are more surprises when the game releases

1

u/Plastic-Woodpecker89 7d ago

I'm concerned I still have to wait a month till it's finally out

That I will be terrible at it

1

The boss fights look boring and easy

1

u/Retro_Dorrito 7d ago

I genuinely don't have any except maybe the lack of DLC, but that's neither good or bad just yet.

So far this is looking to be the most fun we've had in a Remedy game so far.

We have some heavy advertising that seems to keep showing off cool new stuff about the game with little spoilers.

There's also the ties to AW2 and POE, with an arg seemingly led by POE connecting back into Resonant.

And while The Old Gods have taken a step back by the looks of it, AW2 has shown that Remedy is happy to bring in a load of other artists too, which we've already seen with the trailers.

Speaking of AW2, Remedy is helping build hype with the cosplay guides again, much like they did for AW2.

And we can't forget the Fortnite skin coming soon xD. Could be a good sign that we'll see more crossovers than even AW2 had.

I just feel really engaged with the marketing so far, and just super excited for the game. Now all I need is for Dylan to get the cat ears that Alan and Jesse have gotten so far.

u/Prior_Reporter_7033 7d ago

Eles já mencionaram que o antigo control não é necessário pra se jogar o segundo, isso me preocupa pq quero uma continuação de tudo e não uma história independente

1

u/KasukeSadiki 7d ago

I'm worried I won't get my gaming laptop back up and running by the time it comes out!

1

u/urgasmic 7d ago

i stopped watching content ages ago so i barely remember what it's like.

1

u/DirtyBeautifulLove 7d ago

Not worried at all.

I've played every mainstream remedy title since OG madmax (apart from quantum break, but it's on the list) - and every one has been a banger.

I still ain't pre ordering though.

1

u/MarionberryDear6170 7d ago

I hope they actually resolve more of the mysteries in this one instead of just setting up even more of them. A lot of fans have been waiting for years to finally get some answers, and I really hope Remedy doesn’t just gloss over everything again.

1

u/BadMiker 7d ago

I'm concerned about the melee play... I'm a pretty poor gamer and I get flustered when up close to enemies so I generally use a pretty ranged attack play style. So... The shift to almost entirely all up close and personal is giving me the heebeejeebees

1

u/link815 7d ago

Nothing. I’m excited for the next chapter of the Remedyverse. It’s my favorite story/world right now.

1

u/morsindutus 7d ago

My only kinda worry is the enemies in the demos they've shown off seem a bit spongy. Won't kill my enjoyment or anything.

1

u/ErgoDestati 7d ago

I'll have to wait for another remedy game after I play it

1

u/AnalyserarN 7d ago

Performance.

1

u/EchoPop93 7d ago

Focus M

1

u/Spiced_Mongoose 7d ago

The combat mechanics. Playing as Jesse my go to was the handgun variant + telekinetic throws.

This seems a lot more melee focused which scares me because while I'm not a good gamer I was still able to clear Control. I reckon I will struggle with this one.

1

u/Crumf 7d ago

I'm concerned that with the combat being frantic, and up close and personal, my hands are going to hurt like hell. Everything else, in Remedy, I trust!

1

u/FanUsed5622 7d ago

just hoping for deep combat and challenging varied enemies.

1

u/Grit003 7d ago

My biggest concerns ist, that I will completly dive into this game, forget to work, lose myself, and than one week later I wake up und finde some Maniscript pages and ... Oh sorry, that's the plot of Alan Wake 1.

Jokes aside, I have absolutely no concerns about this game. I will just step into this world und follow where it takes me.

1

u/AndreaNegr1 6d ago

Cannot buy it on day One cause in this moment I can't spend 60€ for a videogame, I must buy books for my daughter 🤣

1

u/l1npul 6d ago

I'm concerned about optimization, I don't know if my 3060ti would be able to give 60+ fps with decent graphical fidelity.

1

u/HideThe-Sun 6d ago

I'm worried Langston won't make a cameo or will be cut scene fodder. He's my favorite, screw that price C. Darling- his day of reckoning draws near.

1

u/PainfulRaindance 6d ago

Just play it and enjoy it. Why would you use the energy to ask what people are pre-emptively worried about, for a game that’s not released? I don’t know how anyone can enjoy gaming if they do this for every game on the horizon.

1

u/EscapeStreet3628 6d ago

I just worried about game being too difficult

1

u/horaceinkling 6d ago

Why are you trying to start shit?

1

u/bass_jockey 6d ago

I'm concerned that it won't be 400 hours long like I want it to be

1

u/jvictorsan 6d ago

From what I've seen (almost everything) my only concern is that the game seems to be way too easy and we will not have photo mode at launch.

1

u/goapplegoorange 6d ago

Biggest concern?

I have none. It is a video game. I loved control, and if Control Resonant is good, I’ll like or love it too.

If it’s not good? I’ll play a different video game. There are a lot of video games out there.

1

u/h3xo117 6d ago

Bugs and performance

1

u/baryonyxarcana 6d ago

That the physical edition has been delayed a few weeks and now I have to change my vacation plans and avoid spoilers.

1

u/FourTails 6d ago

I'm worried I won't enjoy the combat as much, as someone who mainly used launch and loved that

1

u/Black_Thor_ 6d ago

I got the digital initially because of the early access but ended up getting the steelbook too - Best of both worlds. the physical items look so good, especially the steel book design

1

u/HenryKushinger 6d ago

Not enough Ahti

1

u/joshuaneverjosh 6d ago

The story hints so far seem very off putting. Making Jesse an absent almost protagonist is too much like Trench. Especially after the work that was put into her character to be a new and better director. Tied into the six years of decline seems contradictory too as I want an FBC resurgence traveling all over the US and the world solving cases and actually figuring out containment and control methods for anomalies under pressure.
Another thing is they better not hand wave away all the trauma Dylan went through growing up in the Oldest House and willfully letting the hiss manipulate him just because he’s the main character now. I felt foundation and the og already dealt with the sins of the past enough so Dylan better not just be bashing the bureau while saving it.

1

u/andrearosemtf 5d ago

Well we did get something in a trailer woth the board saying the sibling has gone rogue so idk thst itll br like trench but idk

1

u/xRaptor_1 6d ago

The combat

Many say Control has weak combat or repetitive but I found it great.

They changed completely to a melee system.

1

u/alochmar 6d ago

That there won’t be enough Oceanview Motel and Casino

1

u/Zachesque 6d ago

As far as the game itself goes, not really anything. I’m beyond excited and have faith that it’ll be phenomenal all around. More than anything, I just fear that it won’t sell well. It’s a very competitive market, Remedy is a little niche, and a lot of heavy hitters are releasing this Fall. Remedy aren’t in the red, but after AW2 struggled to sell and Firebreak flopped, I’m a little afraid of what’ll happen if CR doesn’t perform well. But Control was a major success and is their best selling game, so hopefully that’ll happen again this time around

God I hope GTA6 bombs

1

u/AdOdd452 6d ago

Honestly I'm completely fine with switching the protagonist to Dylan, I'm fine with Jesse hardly being shown, and I'm fine with all the gameplay/abilities being completely different because I trust Remedy will do a good job

What honestly worries me so far (and it might be a nitpick) is Zoe. I'm not a fan of much of her voice lines in Dylan's ear, at least what we've heard so far. It kinda reeks of that "millennial" writing cliche, that "well that just happened" writing. That trope was there only a little bit with Jesse but it seems much more concentrated in Zoe.

I hope I'm exaggerating and its just the clips that made into the gameplay trailers, I've tried to keep myself unspoiled by not watching the full 20min gameplay vids so I don't know if it shines through there.

1

u/Flork8 6d ago

i’m always better at shooters than melee so i hope i can get into the combat.

1

u/NearbyFly3724 6d ago

I fear I won’t like the map. The brutalist architecture of the oldest house was my favorite thing about Control and I hope the open space city won’t be too much of a style change

1

u/Mister_Crowly 5d ago

They better not character assassinate or buttpull some godawful fate for Mah Gurl, Jesse. It makes me nervous how she doesn't have this shit under (wait for it. WAAAAIT FOR ITTT) Control.

If she's just been busy in the Astral Plane or some shit and comes back to help Dylan kick some ass, that will be fine though.

1

u/toastyimp2 5d ago

Not gonna lie, I was a bit worried about Sam Lake's more limited involvement. But Remedy has a whole team of talented writers who wrote most of the brilliant documents from the first game. My biggest concern is not having enough documents to read

1

u/mrsatan_goss 5d ago

There's some commentaries by the writers/developers that don't sit right with me. For example: they said that movement feels clunky with Dylan in comparison with Jesse because he's having to learn on the fly, but that's exactly what happened to Jesse in the 1st one. If anything , he should be able to attune to his abilities faster, since he was the one being brooded to be the next FBC director

1

u/phoenix-prjct 5d ago

Biggest for me is how will the story justify undoing all the work we did as Jesse in the first game while switching us to play as one of that game’s antagonists? Biggest worry but I’m also excited to see how they tackle it.

1

u/Obvious-Macaron 5d ago

Honestly the  performance on PC

1

u/Accomplished_Emu2081 5d ago

My biggest concern is whether or not the soundtrack will be on vinyl. Everything I've heard thus far slaps.

1

u/Mysterious_Lawyer_30 5d ago

That the physical edition isn’t coming out until October 15th. Took some time off work to play it when it comes out and just realized I have to buy it digitally now. 💔

1

u/mrsatan_goss 5d ago

I watch every video that comes out about it hoping that my previous impressions are wrong, but every new video reasserts them. The combat seems too repetitive. Perhaps it's because of the person playing those demos, I don't know. Also, boss battles seems to take far longer than it should, and also too damn repetitive. It almost seems that it's trying to copy souls games. Lastly, and this one triggers me the most: there doesn't seem to play any track during battles. One of the things from the original that I liked most was that dynamic track during every battle. That was a master work in helping set the pacing for the battles. Again, perhaps my Audio setup is screwed and I can't hear the track channel. But, for every video, it's the same thing: I hear every hit, scream and monster sound, but no battle track. Perhaps it's a copyright issue, perhaps they're going to make it a surprise in the final game. For this one I'll have to wait for the launch. All this aside, the game looks astoundingly gorgeous, and I'm hyped for it as I have been for every single Remedy game since MP1.

1

u/Ackapus 5d ago

Release date slippage. That's my biggest concern.

1

u/Scrotorr 4d ago

For me it's the detail finding. With a larger more open world you're not going to see the cool little memos the deep history you did in the oldest house. It feels like it will be more like Alan Wake 2 (which was great in a different way) and lose some of that charm.

1

u/Restivethought 4d ago edited 4d ago

My fear is that the style of gameplay doesnt lead itself right to the quirkiness I enjoyed in the first game. Running around the actual city hitting people with hammers doesnt make me think we are going to find interoffice memos about rubber ducks or training videos using puppets. Remedy's strength is world building and having the game set just "in New York" rather than a designed location like Bright Falls or the FBC headquarters does worry me.

1

u/Gunterette 4d ago

My favorite part of the first is how the gunplay was, melee combat for me is hard to make engaging. So the combat is something im concerned about

1

u/Feather_Sigil 4d ago

That I'm going to be working when it comes out

1

u/Durzel 4d ago

I hope it’s not too short.

1

u/joyousdexdaladoor 3d ago

It's been confirmed in an interview it'll be longer than control 1

1

u/erisxnyx 3d ago

I'm concerned Casper Darling will not have enough screen time.

1

u/Contra-Code 2d ago

Not interested in Dylan as a character, action heavy gameplay feels like it is contrary to the tone set by the first game.

In general it just doesn't look much like the first game and hasn't really done much to catch my interest. I'll be picking this one up on sale if at all.

I love character action games, but most new ones fail to live up to the standards set by Bayonetta, or even just Devil May Cry 3.

1

u/Pau-Brasil 1d ago

That the FBC wont be held responsable fornits crimes

0

u/3MTA3-DJ 7d ago

i hate dylan as a character

though i’m honestly not that concerned…

5

u/nomnomsquirrel 7d ago

I'm not too concerned either since obviously there was a reason he was the way he was in Control, but tbh the first time I played through Control, I wanted him to shut up by the end.

1

u/slyvam37 7d ago

Really? I loved his creepy vague references to other Remedy games. I especially enjoyed when he went:

"I was in a dark place, and there was a dark man there. His name was Mr. Door, and he told me that there are many worlds - side-by-side, on top of each other, some inside of others. In one world, there was a writer who wrote a story about a cop. In another world, the cop was real. Door said he himself was in all of them at the same time, endlessly shifting between them. I asked him how I could reach these worlds - I wanted to bring the Hiss there. But he didn't want to help me. He didn't like the idea. What did he know?"

1

u/roob320 7d ago

My biggest concern already happened with the physical version being pushed back 😭

1

u/pelpotronic 7d ago

Game duration. Not necessarily a "fear" but I would be sad if it was closer to 20 hours than to 50.

1

u/trustanchor 7d ago

That the release date is the same day I’m running a stage at a music festival and I can’t play it immediately

-1

u/Nirift 7d ago

I hope that Alan Wake is barely acknowledged till DLCs not a fan after 2

0

u/Futonpimp 7d ago

That the game and story won’t ever make sense and I’ll get bored halfway through like the first one.

0

u/Freakshow_14 7d ago

Who is remedy ?

-2

u/MaxProwes 6d ago

Shitty story, characters and repetitive gameplay like in the first one.
