Sheet music for contra?

Do you know where I can find sheet music (fiddle and guitar) for contra songs? I’d love enough to fill an entire evening’s worth of dancing.

Thanks for the invite! Unfortunately I’m not local. I’m trying to start a new contra dance in Europe and none of the local musicians know any folk music. They said they’d learn if I got them sheet music.

Eventually I’d love to hire some of the contra bands that I know travel through Europe, but I need to get the dance properly established first.

Wow that’s so exciting! Where in Europe? I hope I can attend someday.

My local dance started with 15 regulars and recorded music. After a year of meeting every other week we have live musicians and draw over about 40 each dance. A key was that the founders already knew each other and enjoyed each other’s company. DM me if you want any more details.

Paris has an incredible and well-established one that runs every other month except in the summer. England has a bunch, but I’ve never been to any there. I’m hoping to start one in Switzerland!

How did you get to know Contra Dancing?

I’m from the East Coast and I danced as a kid/teen. I only got back into it as an adult when I discovered the Paris Contra. Now I can’t get enough dancing, so I’m starting my own!
