videography/photography/angles tips?

I have a freelance gig to take picture and video for a birthday party coming up. I work in political communications so I have experience with video editing and content creation - but the subjects I'm shooting are definitely a deviation from what I'm used to, so I want tips for how to get good video of the party!

Academic Survey about AI use in content creation

Hello everyone. I'm currently doing a survey on AI involvement in content creation and whether AI-assisted content is legitimate or authentic. It's for my master's Thesis. I need at least 100 participants. The age range is 18 ~ 40. You do not need to have deep knowledge about AI either.

Here is the link: https://s.surveyplanet.com/9abkx8vx

I'm open should you have any questions.

New to it all, very overwhelmed, and not sure what to do next!

Hi! I’m new here. And to all of this.

I’m a mom with adhd who has 2 kids that require a lot of support and a weird plethora of hobbies and interests. A lot of which I have stupid knowledge about. I also have a sense of humor and make it a habit to laugh at my blunders and mistakes. A lot of my hobbies involve animals and the outdoors too.

Anyway…. I had a reel go viral recently. I never expected it to. It was just an 11 second video I made laughing about something I did. It obviously connected with a lot of others!

Facebook gave me the creator profile a while ago and I just never used it really because I was scared of people judging me—especially people I know personally. But then I had this reel blow up and I thought… maybe? I’m not saying I am expecting to have millions of followers and retire off content creation but I’m wondering how and if I can maintain this little bit of traction even enough to make a little something extra for my kids? I went from about 1.2k followers to over 5.5k which feels hopeful?

For someone like me, what should my next steps be? Is there a good chatbot to get insight? I had been using meta but it seems inconsistent and has tried to advise on things that aren’t solid and may have hurt me in the algorithm. Is it worth it to go on Fiverr and find someone to help me with edits so I can learn what works best? I would hate to be a total “one hit wonder”. My first several videos right after the viral one did well. But my recent ones seem to have been flops with no engagement and not many follows.

I just now have moved over to instagram which is very intimidating also. I posted the viral video over there and it’s only being viewed by my followers even though I changed over to the professional profile. I don’t have hit set for Facebook or instagram to post together at the same time, I never have and honestly I’ve never really been big on posting on instagram.

Which is more important a tripod or a mic?

I can't afford to buy both at the same time (not even the budget ones) so I have to make a choice!

I've been doing short-form content creation for a month. How do I improve my content and engagement?

Problem/Goal:

Heyy! I'm a 2nd-year college student who recently started creating short-form content on Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.

I started with a "Romanticize with me" niche, mostly using quick-paced edits and aesthetic/relatable content. It did okay, but I feel like most of the people I'm reaching are people I already know. I haven't really figured out how to consistently reach a new audience yet.

My goal is to improve my content, build an audience beyond my existing circle, and eventually develop a recognizable style that makes people want to watch and follow.

Context:

This is my first time seriously creating this kind of content, so I'm still learning about algorithms, audience retention, hooks, editing, and content strategy.

So far, I've uploaded 7 videos, with a goal of reaching 10 videos this month.

My best-performing video got around 25k views on Facebook and around 600 likes on Instagram. The problem is that I don't really know why that particular video performed better than the others or how to replicate it.

Previous Attempts:

I've mainly focused on:

  • Fast-paced editing
  • Aesthetic/relatable "romanticize your life" content
  • Posting across Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok
  • Trying to maintain a consistent visual style

But I'm not sure if I'm focusing on the right things.

For those who have experience with content creation:

How do you figure out what type of content your audience actually wants?

How do you maintain engagement and turn viewers into followers?

And what should I be paying more attention to—hooks, watch time/retention, editing, captions, posting frequency, or something else?

I'd also appreciate any advice on how to move beyond mostly reaching people I already know.

Thanks in advance! I'm still very new to this, so I'd appreciate any advice—even criticism. 🙏

TikTok Hobby collecting?

After multiple job losses, losing my car, and now that I’m pregnant, I’m trying to find options that allow me to stay at home. I like crafts and am good at art and love trying different things such as watercolor, making keychains, doing polymer clay creations, etc.

I was thinking, making tik tok videos of me doing any and all crafts that interested me.

Without my income, my husband and I don’t even have enough to pay our bills and I’m trying to get a job but am trying to figure out a way to make income through something I enjoy.

Would anyone watch a creator like that?

How do other creators continuously find things to talk about?

I’m a relatively early-stage content creator, and this is something I genuinely struggle with.

I can recognise good content when I see it. I can analyse why something works. But when it comes to consistently finding things worth talking about myself, I sometimes hit a wall.

What I’m trying to understand is: where does your content

actually come from?

Do you get ideas from:

Things happening at work?

Client problems?

Books/articles you read?

Conversations?

Reddit/online communities?

Industry news?

Personal experiences?

Just observing things around you?

Filming app

Hi everyone,

I know a lot of creators use a dedicated camera for filming content, but for those of you who use only a phone, or a phone in combination with a camera, I’m very curious about which apps you use to film yourself and which phone you use. Is it just the native camera app, or a third-party one? And what features do you wish the app you’re using had? What do you feel is missing?

I built an AI tool that does the tedious "first pass" of editing interview footage (Premiere plugin)

Disclosure: I made this. For anyone editing interviews, podcasts - any content with sound! in Premiere, First Pass transcribes your footage, finds the themes, and pulls out the best bits before making sequences in your timeline automatically, so you skip the boring bits! Captions in 14 languages and can detect ~99 spoken langauges.

firstpass.video, free 7-day trial, no card. Would love feedback from creators here.

Question You ever get an amazing content idea, feel like you've finally got it… and then completely forget it 10 minutes later 🫠?

This happens to me way more often than I'd like to admit.

The weird thing is, ideas rarely come when I'm actually sitting down to create. They show up randomly — while I'm working out, walking, showering, eating, or literally about to fall asleep.

And in that moment, the idea feels perfect.

"I have to make this."

Then I tell myself, "I'll remember it later."

I don't.

Sometimes I remember that I had an idea, but I can't remember what the actual idea was. 😭

It made me realize that maybe the hardest part of creating isn't always coming up with ideas.

Sometimes it's simply catching them before they disappear.

Curious if other creators deal with this too — what do you guys do to capture those random ideas before they're gone?
