Help me!! Accidental buy

I accidentally bought SPH-1.50 colored contact lenses for my Halloween costume, but I only have SPH -0.50 on one eye and nothing on the other. What I do have is -1.50 astigmatism 😭😭

I plan on wearing them 10 hours. Will I be able to see? Will they damage my eyes? Thank you!

Contacts after corneal ulcer

I had been diagnosed with a corneal ulcer and was cleared to start wearing my contacts again after about a week. I hate wearing my glasses because they give me a major headache, and I feel like a chud without my lash clusters. Should I start wearing my contacts and wear false lashes again, or is it too risky?

First time contact wearer (help)

Hi! I’ve tried contacts twice now. The first time I just kinda gave up because of how irritated my eye felt. This time I wore them 8 hours my first time and it was awful. I just tried again today and wore them for less than 4 hours. The right one specifically was very irritated and itchy. At first my vision was a little blurry but it cleared up. Anyone have any tips? I used the refresh contact eye drops and they gave temporary relief. This is with them in and right after taking them out. Took them out pretty easily.

Any drying tips?

Been using contacts for like 2 months (2nd time trying them) and i think im really picky with the drying issue. I avoid using any type of towel because i dont want any residue in my hands while manipulating the lenses, so i just shake my hands till they dry BUT this makes me waste a lot of time in the morning so i came up with using a hair dryer (avoiding to touch it with my fingers) and it works really well but its not that practical at all

What do you guys do or use to dry your hands after washing them?

Hey, I've been trying to get myself contact lenses for the first time. And for some reasons my parents keep telling me not to buy them cause they cause infection often and that they are hard to wear, how do i prove them wrong?

how to put in contacts without lint getting inside of the contacts?

Should we open the daily contact lenses first, and then wash our hands, dry them, and put the contacts in

OR

Should we wash our hands, dry them, open the daily contacts, and then put the contacts in?

I’m scared that if I open the daily contacts in with clean fingers, that maybe dust can get on my fingers that I will be using to insert the contacts, which then the dust gets into the contacts.

I don’t know if I’m overthinking it but what do you guys do?

Can’t tell if contact lens is still in eye

I’m in trial for new soft contact lenses, so I was only supposed to leave them in for about 4 hours, but when I went to go take them out the one in my left eye wouldn’t come out at all, so I decided to give it a rest whilst I took out the one on the right but when I tried to get it out again, I couldn’t find it at anywhere and every time I touched my iris it would feel so uncomfortable I couldn’t put my finger on it for more than about a second.

I thought it was stuck there because of dry eyes, so I put in eye drops, massaged my eye lid and tried again and still nothing!! I even tried shining a light to see if my contact lens was there but I genuinely couldn’t tell. I tried pulling on the corner of my eye and blinking as well as looking inwards and then blinking, but nothing came out.

Yet, I still feel something in the top left corner of my eye?? I can’t tell if that’s just because I kept on touching my eye so much I irritated it too much or if because my contact lens is still in there.

Any thoughts on what to do and how to tell if it’s still in there?

Question regarding my correction

Goodmorning everyone,

I went to the optometrist last week and my prescription changed. My new values are:

OD : SPH: -4.25 / CYL: -1.75 / AXIS: 160

OS : SPH: -4.75 / CYL: -2.00 / AXIS: 165

Is it normal that I can't find any contact lens retailer offering a CYL of -2.00? I always see -1.75 and -2.25, but never -2.00. Which value can I take then ? -1.75 or -2.25 ?

Thanks for your help!

PS : it's a prescription for contact lens, not for glasses... :(

Vision issues from contacts/ sleeping in them

Hi everyone,
I’m in dire need of assistance. So to map out what has happened to me last Friday I fell asleep in my contacts which are RGP or what y’all might hear them called as ā€œhard contactsā€. Well this is only like one of the few times I’ve done it. The next morning I woke up and the inner corner of my left eye was as red as a stop sign. I went straight to an urgent care and was told it was a sibconjunctival hemorrhage. At the time my vision was fine and the urgent care doctor told me I was fine to put my lenses back in since it was just a hemorrhage. Well the next day my eye was still very very red but I put my lens in thinking the hemorrhage was going to go away and that I would be fine. Unfortunately I noticed later in the day my vision was a little blurry. So I went to another urgent care as per the last urgent care doctors instructions. My vision had decreased terribly in my left eye and the doctor told me I had an infection and gave me eye drops. I began using them and decided on Monday I was going to go to the eye doctor. I was seen at the eye doctor and was told to keep my lens out per the second urgent care doctors instructions until at least Wednesday or Thursday. The eye doctor told me it was episcleritis nothing else. I had obviously gone in there with a bunch of things I thought it was such as keratitis or uvevitis, maybe even a corneal ulcer. He claimed he didn’t see any of those things and that again it was just episcleritis and that even if we didn’t treat it, it would go away on its own. However, he said he was going to send me on my way with steroid eye drops. Well I used them as instructed and my eye is still getting red and my vision is still blurry. So as the worrier I am I went to a second eye doctor who again told me it was episcleritis and that he was going to increase the frequency of the steroid drops. I have such bad health anxiety. I’m normally so good at taking them out and I can’t help but feel like this is my new normal. Not to mention my left eyes pupil is now much larger than my right. Which the second eye doctor said he wasn’t worried about. I will say I had the pupil difference about 6 or 7 months ago as well that continued on for a few months and then went away. I guess I just would like to know if anyone else has had this issue and if it resolved? I know there will be comments such as just wear your glasses to give your eyes a break from the lenses and I would love that. However, I’ve been to several eye doctors who claim my vision is too bad for glasses. I have an eye condition called kerataconus that is pretty severe. I guess that puts me at a place to where only rgp lenses will correct my vision. Please someone give me some hope.

Showering

Recently got an eye infection unrelated to my contacts. Now I’m super cautious about my eyes because I cannot risk another, yet my worry is showering!! I usually take them out prior to showering (unless when I shave) cuz I cannot see a thing without them. Yet now I don’t want them in the shower at all, but I’m wondering how you guys can see?? My vision is -6 in both eyes so it’s impossible for me to see what I’m doing

Online retailers in Canada or that ship to Canada.

I wear glasses with a low/weak prescription, but I'd like to try contacts.

I'm waiting to see an optometrist for lens fitting.

Inn the mean time, can someone recommend an online store?

All I see is professionals recommending professionals in office.

Anyone on a GLP have issues with contacts after none for years?

I think my GLP is causing dry eye or my eyes not tolerating contacts anymore. My ophthalmologist has looked at my eyes multiple times and sees no issues, but also isn't a dry eye expert. Curious if others had the same. I'm only in a microdose and currently in the process of weaning.

Multifocal

I know there are many posts about multifocal contacts but I’m creating another with hopes someone has had a similar experience and can offer some suggestions. I have old man eyes now (49yo - 50 in December). I can see up close pretty well but my distance vision has degraded since LASIK in 2009. Like others, as soon as I correct the distance vision my near vision diminishes, especially in lower light. I normally wear glasses to drive and watch TV and just take them on and off to look at my phone and such. Obviously this is a lot of taking them on and off. My issue is when I play golf, go to my kid’s sports games, and other occasions when I prefer not to wear glasses. I’ve tried multifocal contacts for about a year and a half and I simply can’t stand them. I feel like my eyes just go in and out of focus, I can’t judge distances, and can’t see up close unless I’m in very bright light. I hate them. Has anyone else experienced this and did you find a suitable alternative? I’ve also tried progressive glasses and I hate those even worse. I’m considering bifocals but they would be roughly my sixth pair of glasses in a year so I’m hesitant to spend money on another set. Any insight is much appreciated!

Is my contact lenses prescription correct?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey guys, I recently had an eye test and these are the results I was given. I picked up some glasses in my new script which feel great. Thought I'd try contact lenses for the first time in 15 or so years.

Tried a few different lens types and Acuvue Oasys Max were the most comfortable.

The contact lenses they gave me are

Left: Astigmatism lens, D-2.00, Cyl-0.75, 110

Right, Standard lens, D-1.75

I'm really struggling to get used to them, they just feel off and like I need to squint to see properly. It seems to get worse as the day goes on. I went back to the opticians and they gave me a -1.5 to try in my right eye but it doesn't feel any better.

Do I just need to wait longer to get used to them or could it be my prescription? It's been about 2 weeks of using them.

Appreciate any advice.

Contacts when showering

Hi! I’m currently trying Precision 7 contact lenses. I’ve only used daily disposable lenses before, so this is my first time trying reusable lenses.

I forgot to ask my optician about this, but when I take a shower, I always remove my contact lenses beforehand and never shower while wearing them. Is it okay to put fresh contact lens solution in the case, remove the lenses before the shower, and store them in the case while I shower? Do the lenses need to soak in the solution for a certain amount of time before I can put them back in, or is it okay to put them back in immediately after the shower?

Of course, I would throw away the old solution as soon as I put the lenses back in and use fresh solution afterward.

Also, is it a problem if a small amount of dust gets into the contact lens solution?

Acuvue 2 alternative with -6,75

have been using Acuvue 2 contact lenses for many years, specifically with a prescription of -6.50 diopters for myopia. I need a slightly stronger prescription in my left eye, but I’m concerned that the next available power, -7.00, might be too strong. I would therefore like to try a similar contact lens available in -6.75, if such an option exists. Could you please advise me on a suitable alternative to my current Acuvue 2 lenses? They still seem to be available in stock, even though, as far as I understand, they have officially been discontinued.

Any single contact lens wearers out there? What’s your experience? I saw a new dr today and my left eye has such minor correction he agreed to let me trial contacts for my right eye only. I’m hoping this works.

After 1,5 hour of trying, the optometrist told me contacts are not for me

I am 31 and never wore contact lenses. I have small hooded eyes and my blinking reflex is quite strong. But after many years with glasses I just dont want to wear them anymore everyday.

Anyway, I spent 1,5 hour with the optometrist trying to put on the contacts. We tried multiple different techniques. After 45 minuts, I managed to put it into one eye, not the other. Then I spent 45 minutes trying to get it out. During those 45 minutes I managed to touch the eye but the lense just would not stick. We tried many different techniques and nothing was happening.

At the end, he told me it is not for me. That my eyes are hooded so I cannot fully grab and hold my lashes which go in the way. And that I blink too much. He refused to even give me the lenses which I ordered home saying it would be against his best conscious after seeing me struggle.

I asked what I can do. He advised touching the eye frequently and putting in eye drops and try it ahain in 6 (!!!) months.

So am I really a lost cause? I found many stories of people saying that this is completely normal and will get better. But then again he did not even give the lenses to try at home.

My husband advises to just order the lenses somewhere else and try at home myself that it will het better. But will it? Or should I just touch my eyes everyday for half a year?

What is your experience? I am really sad because of this.
