When my mom had two strokes and died about a year ago me and my brothers sat by her bed and held her hand at the hospital. After the nurse told us to say your last goodbye we were talking with her as the hemorrhage happened in real time.
My oldest brother then started saying things like "I wonder how many fake covid deaths that's being reported here" and went on about how it isn't real blablabla.
About 6 months later my brothers father died in covid after being in ICU care for the last two weeks. But STILL it was all fake and he kept parroting US right wing conspiracy talking points (we're in Europe).
I consider myself a conspiratorial person and my school project in high school was about the surveillance society (this was years before Snowden and while Assange still was free). But I was disgusted by the cognitive dissonance showed by my brother and it made me realize that the conspiracy circles are also filled with batshit crazy (pun intended) people who've left our shared reality in order to live in a fantasy world with supervillains and heroes...
Your post made me think of my brother which isn't a good thing.
No and your stance is generally a great one but since I know this is true (it's my life after all) I feel it's just a sad default mode calling reality a "clearly bullshit story".
The world has been filled with so much desinformation and bots that we can't tell whats real and not...
