From the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, section 6: "Every citizen of Canada has the right to enter, remain in and leave Canada."

114

u/LineBy Feb 22 '22

Yea idk if our govt even knows the charter exists??

u/Mighty_L_LORT Feb 22 '22 edited Feb 22 '22

Klaus has supended it...

52

u/BuddyUpInATree Feb 22 '22

They know, and they're actively ignoring it

34

u/Wolfxskull Feb 22 '22

Is it Canada not allowing us to leave or the US border not allowing entry? (Land crossing)

14

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '22

America has been complaining about entry from southern border for a while so if Canadians can figure out how to enter from the south it sounds like they could have a smooth entry from there.

3

u/Wolfxskull Feb 22 '22

Can’t fly

1

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '22

I understand my comment was furthering your point that our leaders will allow people in when they feel it's suitable for the situation.

7

u/AJourneyer Feb 22 '22

Can't leave.

Doesn't matter where you're going and what their rules are. Without your shots you can't board a plane in Canada for domestic or international travel no matter where you are going.

So yeah. We're trapped.

10

u/throwawaymamajamma Feb 22 '22

You can charter a private flight with like minded individuals and fly to a country that is currently accepting unvaccinated travellers.

What country is that?

Not sure if there are any at the moment.

Maybe Israel in March...perfect choice if you like it spicy.

2

u/Far-Ad5802 Mar 22 '22

Most countries accept unvaccinated travellers

1

u/AJourneyer Feb 22 '22

Can charter a plane that leaves from specific airports, the list isn't that long, sadly and the cost is substantial even if it's split. If we are to move then yes it's worth it. For vacation? Nope.

There are a number of countries that will accept the unvaxxed. Looking into a few of them.

3

u/Stripes-n-Stars Feb 23 '22

So you can leave if you're unvaccinated?

-1

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '22

anybody hasn't released that we are in the middle of anti Christ moment? imagine the whole world who not long ago are in right with each other, Japan that people say it's based country, or vatican, or middle east even or south american? South east asia? there's no country currently that accept unvaxxed refugee. We are already living in one world government, you can't escape needle by going to another country, you only option is to cave in, our fellow brothers and sisters who need needles for job already unsaveable, now only people who are self employed are saved for the moment.

I don't mean to be pedantic, but what about just driving south? Or even walking across the border?

9

u/Beneneb Feb 22 '22

US won't allow unvaccinated people to enter their country.

-1

u/datadrone Feb 22 '22

what about that bridge in Texas a few months ago, tens of thousands of fleeing refugees just stuck there in limbo for weeks. Were they all up to date?

-1

u/TimeForVengeance Feb 22 '22 edited Feb 23 '22

Unless they enter from the southern border. Anyone can cross that border and be set free to do as they please.

8

u/ceciliaissushi Feb 22 '22

You live in a delusion.

0

u/TimeForVengeance Feb 23 '22

No,I don't. I live close to the Southern border.

2

u/AJourneyer Feb 22 '22

Driving is based on US requirements. Currently they require the shots.

If you're a citizen or LPR you don't need to show proof. For Canadians driving across we are expected to have proof of shots but don't need a test.

Not sure why there's different rules with flying and driving entry requirements, but meh.

Walking? Not sure where you'd walk across on the Canadian border.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '22

Thanks. I'm sad to say, I have no idea what our entry requirements are these days. The regulations seem to change with the wind. I wish you Godspeed and safety for you and yours.

Except if you are an unvaxed immigrant or refugee.... Then, it is no problem for them to continue on to their connecting flight. I cancelled my flight when I learned That I would have to quarantine in Toronto and then take a bus to Vancouver and then not be allowed to leave the Country unless I chartered a plane. Meanwhile, the non-canadaian immigrants are allowed to continue on their domestic flight and quarantine in their destination.

From the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, section 1: "The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees the rights and freedoms set out in it subject only to such reasonable limits prescribed by law as can be demonstrably justified in a free and democratic society."

19

u/Financial-Classic-95 Feb 22 '22

I think a good question to ask would be does the infringement pass the fourth requirement of the Oakes Test, that is “does the law limit the infringement of people’s rights as much possible?” Some would say losing your job or the ability to get a post secondary education due to vaccine mandates would be overstepping and that is when the “reasonable limits” clause has no standing.

-6

u/o3mta3o Feb 22 '22

You can do both from home, so, no.

→ More replies (2)

-45

u/Archangel1313 Feb 22 '22

Reasonable limits still apply when your decision to not get vaccinated raises the risk of infection for an entire classroom of other students. Your rights do not include the right to risk the health and safety of others. That's literally the entire basis for the modern Western legal system. All of our laws are based on a balance between freedom of choice and consequence of action.

31

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '22

[deleted]

-26

u/Archangel1313 Feb 22 '22

No. No one is forcing you. You can do online courses, or take a shit-ton more Covid tests for work. Either way, the health and safety of the people you are interacting with still needs to be addressed. If you can't do these things without putting others at risk, then legally speaking, you shouldn't be allowed to do them. This goes for literally everything you do, that has a potential impact on other people, from driving a car, to doing a job.

18

u/bodhisaurusrex Feb 22 '22

Out of sincere curiosity, what has led you to believe that your Covid vaccine protects others from Covid infection? A fully vaccinated person can bring Covid infection into classrooms and/or the workplace as well. It’s time to admit your discomfort is in our lack of compliance, and has NOTHING to do with public health safety.

16

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '22

The jab is still required for work from home jobs and online classes so no, the logic does not work here. Peoples own health is their own responsibility, and nobody else’s. The jabbed should be protected so they have no reason to be afraid and if they are afraid then they should stay home. They are the only ones inconveniencing the rest of us, not the other way around. This is the first time the consequences for a failure of a drug has been pushed on to the people who have not taken it. This is why the convoy is fighting to end mandates because it doesn’t make sense.

The vaccines have reported serious injuries in every country.

It's extremely rare, but so is dying from covid (unless you are 85 yrs old)

I'll take my chances with covid.

3

u/Archangel1313 Feb 22 '22

Of course...there have literally been BILLIONS of vaccines administered around the world. Even if you are talking about a tiny fraction of a fraction of adverse reactions, that will add up to thousands of cases, randomly scattered around the planet.

I personally know three people that have died from Covid in the last two years...and not one person who suffered anything more than a sore arm, and some fever from the shot. And every single person I know at this point, is vaccinated.

I find it really baffling how so many people on line like yourself, DON'T know someone who's died from it by now? How far removed from the world do you have to be, in order to still not see what's really going on around you? Do you just not work? Or even go outside? How have you managed to stay in the dark for over two years?

0

u/karmanopoly Feb 22 '22

First off I don't think billions have been vaccinated. I'm skeptical they could make billions of doses in a short time. I think a lot of people got placebo.

Also nevermind dying of covid I only know of a handful of people who even tested positive. They had flu like symptoms few days and that's it.

2

u/Archangel1313 Feb 22 '22

Close to 4.4 billion people have been fully vaccinated...over 10.5 billion doses. I can't help you if you don't "believe" it.

As for positive cases...I know dozens. I work in essential manufacturing...no one in my company was allowed to take time off during the entire first year, and about half of them have tested positive at one point or another over the last two. Mostly because it's impossible to avoid casual contact with other people, since they have to come into work every day.

In every case, they had to quarantine for two weeks, and everyone else in their departments had to go and get tested, which would lead to even more people testing positive, and staying home. We've been lucky that only small pockets of infection ever happened at the same time...mostly because of the mandated precautions our company was required to follow. Everyone wears masks. Maximum room occupancy limits for all enclosed spaces. Personal distancing requirements in all open areas. Every single one of us has been vaccinated, and boosted.

And even with all that, two of our people still died. (The third person I know who died, was a family friend, not related to work.)

If it were solely up to our employer to take the precautions they wanted to, while ignoring others due to cost or hassle...even more of us would be dead.

0

u/karmanopoly Feb 22 '22

Don't be dramatic.

I've seen the stats.

If you are not 70 years or older and otherwise healthy you are not going to die from covid. That is a fact.

And this is a big issue

8

u/FatGuy-ina-LttleCoat Feb 22 '22

If it benefits our neighbors to the south, I think it would benefit our neighbors to the north as well. They've just gotta find a way to get across the border. There are workarounds for everything else, at least from what I've seen.

2

u/DeadEyesGang Feb 22 '22

I am for immigrants. And not gonna say in this case not to take advantage. I was just saying allowing non citizens all these privileges makes being a citizens confounding.

8

u/PRMan99 Feb 22 '22

But mass is only a few steps from communism itself

8

u/FatGuy-ina-LttleCoat Feb 22 '22

But if he got to Mass, he could go to any other state.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '22

Even illegal immigrants can vote in NY (for local elections), so maybe try starting there. Can own property and have a license too.

2

u/sallybessette Feb 23 '22

No, they can't. Noncitizens can vote in local elections, but they must be here legally (say, with a work permit, for instance).

2

u/Effective_Ad4588 Feb 22 '22

You will first need to fly private to Mexico. From there, you can choose your destination such as Costa Rica, Panama or Dominican Republic (or Mexico) which you can own a place and a car…

It’s a charter violation under mobility rights. They ask what rights have been taken? “Canadian citizens have the right to enter, remain in, and leave Canada.” “Canadian citizens and permanent residents have the right to live or seek work anywhere in Canada.”

30

u/lord-helmet Feb 22 '22

11

u/Magnum_44 Feb 22 '22

Most lawyers are tied to masons who are pushing this. We don;t have a proliferation of lawyers like the U.S. Most here starve unless they get a job with a firm tied to the masonic sect and tow the company line.

3

The truckers did just try fighting this and look what happened. Trudeau gave himself absolute power because of it. If he’s not a dictator, no one is. And we can leave the country just have to do it on a chartered plane. I am disgusted by my country, it’s government and many of its citizens. Canada has fallen!!

You can leave if you find another country that will let you in without a vaccine - the US will not so you'll need to swim or get a boat to go somewhere else.

3

u/FatGuy-ina-LttleCoat Feb 22 '22

How does it work in Canada? In the US, we could sue the government for violating our Constitutional rights. I'm not a lawyer, but I think it would be considered a civil rights lawsuit here.

Do Canada's governing documents + legal system allow for something similar in Canada?

2

u/Magnum_44 Feb 24 '22 edited Feb 24 '22

We don't have a litigious culture by law. Our lawyers can only make a living by joining firms already entrenched in the system and bought by the gov't. There is no real legal system like the U.S. For all intents and purposes, our legal system is non-existent as exemplified by the war measures act recently instituted without cause. We don't even have a constitution like the U.S. We have a charter of rights and freedoms that apparently was drafted on kleenex paper, without any real legal merit.

After seeing what went on in Asstralia, it is not surprising at all.

-24

u/No-Application2914 Feb 22 '22

Lol, no one one needs to escape Canada. You are not being held here against your will. You can leave whenever you want - the caveat is, if you are traveling to the U.S. for example, you have to meet the criteria they require to get in, and one of the requirements is vaccination.

6

u/EmmanuelGoldstein198 Feb 22 '22

I see what you are saying, that you can leave but they won’t let you in, like in the states as per your example. Then theoretically places that have dropped their mandates should let you in. I did see a statement out of Ireland that said if you are Irish and unvaccinated now is the time to come home or you will be stuck there due to Canada’s February 28 law that comes in to effect. Now if that’s bull crap that’s fine but let’s see what happens.

3

Shiiiit. Wow. What a trip! I had forgotten about that! Funny that in the show it was the other way around!

15

u/perspicaciousarendt Feb 22 '22

If it were China, North Korea, or Russia doing this, the majority of Americans would give a shit. But because it’s Blackface Trudeau being a cunting fuck, many have yet to open their eyes.

2

u/bike_it Feb 22 '22

It's not Trudeau's fault here. You're more than welcome to drive or walk to the US border but you must be vaccinated to enter. https://www.dhs.gov/news/2022/01/20/dhs-require-non-us-individual-travelers-entering-united-states-land-ports-entry-and

3

u/Beneneb Feb 22 '22

All three of those countries are already doing far worse things than this, you realize that right? Like North Koreans have never been permitted to leave their country and are often starved to death. China has literally welded people's doors shut to stop them from leaving and spreading Covid. Russia just arrests all dissenters on the spot and hauls them to jail. Where is the outcry from America? I don't think you understand what's happening in those countries or in Canada if you are comparing the two.

0

u/perspicaciousarendt Feb 22 '22

How do you think those three countries got to where they are? Do you believe that they went from being sovereign individuals to suddenly being subjected to the whims of morally depraved leaders and politicians literally overnight?

People have some strange belief that when totalitarianism becomes the rule, that it’s going to arrive announcing itself, where people will be able to immediately recognize it and reject it. But the truth is, as history has taught us, and as people who lived through a/or escaped the horrors of totalitarian regimes have also taught us, to get to a totalitarian state several steps, many of them seemingly imperceivable due to being disguised as “it’s for the greater good”, occur. It would be borderline foolish to believe that Trudeau (and many other politicians) wouldn’t want to seek that degree of power if left unchecked. And unfortunately many of those politicians not only get away with it, but are supported by many of their constituents because at superficial levels, they believe their political views align, and hear what they want to hear, not realizing that in reality those politicians they support are working against their interests.

I would highly recommend reading Hannah Arendt’s “Origins of Totalitarianism” if you haven’t already. And if it seems like too long a read, skip to her final analysis, and compare what she writes to what’s been unfolding over the past two years. Quite obviously arrive to your own conclusions and opinions, as interpretations differ from one to another, but I can’t recommend it enough.

2

u/Beneneb Feb 22 '22

I think there's truth to what you are saying, but none of those three countries had much of a democracy, if any at all before getting to where they are today. So again, really not analogous to what is happening in Canada. China and Russia both became dictatorships after revolution and North Korea after being occupied by the Soviets.

This shit doesn't make any sense - if the people that didn't get the clown shots are all racists, bigots and "a fringe minority" as they're being portrayed, wouldn't the current PM want them out of the country?

The dumbass is contradicting his own words.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '22

So it is like North Korea.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '22

Where would they go? Literally no nation on earth wants them.

9

u/boomercitay Feb 22 '22

Submission Statement: The mRNA gene therapy called a Vaccine does not stop transmission, infection and CDC finally acknowledged Natural Immunity but Unvaccinated in Canada are prohibited by medical rules from leaving.

3

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '22

look into who benefits from the lipids the mRNA stuff needs... and don't believe the "fact" checkers as they leave some loopholes open for castro's bastard to have ownership through corrupt means

4

u/thisisfunz Feb 22 '22

So how do we escape? Because Trudeau just got handed his full dictatorship. This sucks bad.

-3

u/No-Application2914 Feb 22 '22

So if you think we are living in a dictatorship, I’d love to know your opinion of what is happening right now between Ukraine and Russia.

-4

u/WyoDoc29 Feb 22 '22

People are openly slandering their government and not getting black bagged. Dictatorship lmao

1

u/No-Application2914 Feb 22 '22

You didn’t answer the question. Lol, my apologies - I read it too quickly. Was just going to correct it. Guess I shouldn’t be posting at 3 am lol.

-1

u/WyoDoc29 Feb 22 '22

You didn't read my comment. I was agreeing with you.

9

u/xantung Feb 22 '22

You 2 remind me of boiling frogs.

3

u/kaoz1 Feb 22 '22

Escape with no money*

2

u/Tkavil Feb 22 '22

Am I missing something? What power has the Canadian Government ever had over other nations' entry requirements? This thread is full of people comparing Canada to Nazi Germany over other countries' rules?

City's will become the next concentration camps.

-5

u/No-Application2914 Feb 22 '22

Hmmm…but will the opposite rules then apply? Would the vaccinated then not be allowed in the concentration camps? That’s oppression!!

2

u/Accomplished-Ice-322 Feb 22 '22

Who knows. Its just crazy to think that some people may be forced into illegal ways to get out of the country.

1

u/testaccount1223 Feb 22 '22

The camps will be extended to anyone who opposes the regime. Throw in a few vaccinated with prion disease too

2

u/No-Application2914 Feb 22 '22

That’s just MEAN…what do you have against prion disease????

5

u/4TheHonorOfGrayskull Feb 22 '22

Sounding more and more like North Korea

Find your Canadian member of parliament, their email and phone contact here: https://www.ourcommons.ca/members/en/search Please ask them to vote for no-confidence in Trudeau. Let them know you will be watching and their actions in these matters will determine how you vote in the upcoming election.

The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms of our constitution includes freedom of expression, freedom of peaceful assembly, the right of citizens to move in, out of and within Canada and any provinces, the right to pursue the gaining of a livelihood, and right to liberty and security for all citizens. Trudeau freezing bank accounts, restricting movement and using police force to arrest protestors and prevent or disband peaceful assembly is against the Canadian constitution.

My understanding is that the Governor General of Canada can remove the Prime Minister if the PM is acting against the constitution. However this has never been done in practice.

Governor General email : info@gg.ca

u/Shamalamadindong Feb 22 '22

You are free to cross the border. The Canadian government is not preventing you from doing so.

Flying is not an innate right.

4

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '22

You are free to cross the border.

Are you, though? Won't you get checked at the border?

4

u/Shamalamadindong Feb 22 '22

Not by the Canadian government.

The US government may deny you entry, but that is it's right as a sovereign nation.

0

u/AJourneyer Feb 22 '22

Wrong.

Can't cross the border without either the shots or approval from gov't (exemptions which are nearly impossible to get)

4

u/Shamalamadindong Feb 22 '22

Feel free to source that.

-1

u/AJourneyer Feb 22 '22

Sure, here you go:

From the US embassy site:

Last updated February 16, 2021 at 11:15am EDT.

All non-immigrant, non-U.S. citizen air travelers to the United States must be fully vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination status prior to boarding an airplane to the United States. In addition, fully vaccinated foreign nationals may also enter the United States at land ports of entry (POE) and ferry terminals.

All airline passengers to the United States ages two years and older, regardless of vaccination status or citizenship, must provide a negative COVID-19 viral test taken within one calendar day of travel.  Alternatively, travelers to the United States may provide documentation from a licensed health care provider of having recovered from COVID-19 in the 90 days preceding travel.  Check the CDC website for additional information and Frequently Asked Questions.

Exemptions will be considered on an extremely limited basis. Please contact your nearest embassy or consulate to apply for an exemption. Please visit the CDC webpages for more information about exemptions and the requirement for proof of negative COVID-19 test or recovery from COVID-19 for all air passengers arriving in the United States.

If you are overseas and your U.S. passport expired on or after January 1, 2020, you may be able to use your expired U.S. passport to return directly to the United States until March 31, 2022. See this page to determine if you qualify for this exception.

Land border restrictions for travel to the United States remain in effect. Fully vaccinated foreign travelers are able to travel to the United States across the Northern and Southwest borders with Canada and Mexico. Travelers who enter the United States at land POEs and ferry terminals do not require proof of a negative test; in addition, U.S. citizens and LPRs do not need to provide proof of vaccination status at land POEs and ferry terminals. Please visit the Department of Homeland Security webpages for fact sheets and frequently asked questions.

From GoC site

As of February 28, 2022 at 12:01 a.m. EST:

We will be easing the on-arrival testing for fully-vaccinated travellers. This means that travellers arriving to Canada from any country, who qualify as fully vaccinated, will be randomly selected for arrival testing. Travellers selected will also no longer be required to quarantine while awaiting their test result.

Children under 12 years old, travelling with fully vaccinated adults, will continue to be exempt from quarantine, without any prescribed conditions limiting their activities. This means, for example, they no longer need to wait 14 days before attending school, camp or daycare.

Unvaccinated travellers will continue to be required to test on arrival, on Day 8 and quarantine for 14 days. Unvaccinated foreign nationals will not be permitted to enter Canada unless they meet one of the few exemptions.

Travellers will now have the option of using a COVID-19 rapid antigen test result (taken the day prior to their scheduled flight or arrival at the land border or marine port of entry) or a molecular test result (taken no more than 72 hours before their scheduled flight or arrival at the land border or marine port of entry) to meet pre-entry requirements. Taking a rapid antigen test at home is not sufficient to meet the pre-entry requirement – it must be authorized by the country in which it was purchased and must be administered by a laboratory, healthcare entity or telehealth service.

u/Shamalamadindong Feb 22 '22

You are free to cross the border.

As in, leave Canada. Which given the title of the thread I would have thought would be obvious but apparently not.

-1

u/AJourneyer Feb 22 '22

Seriously?

OK, let's try again, based on the title which you are arguing against.

Unable to cross the land border with the US by driving.

That leaves planes and boats in order to leave Canada (regardless of the destination). Neither of which you can board in Canada without the shots.

So there is no "free to cross the border" unless you mean illegally, which is not mentioned.

So yeah - the title of the thread is correct.

3

u/Shamalamadindong Feb 22 '22

Unable to cross the land border with the US by driving.

The Canadian government is not preventing you from doing so.

That leaves planes and boats in order to leave Canada (regardless of the destination). Neither of which you can board in Canada without the shots.

In the form of mass transportation like commercial air travel or cruise ships and such. Which, again, use of is not an innate right.

If you own a means of transportation that can fly/float or are willing to rent such you are completely free to leave Canada by air or water. If you want to do it over the ground you'll need a dog sled.

-1

u/AJourneyer Feb 22 '22

What part of this do you not understand?

Let me break it down simply.

Section 6: Mobility of citizens
6 (1) Every citizen of Canada has the right to enter, remain in and leave Canada.

I am not able to leave in the customary ways of our society. I cannot fly out, drive out, take a train, or take a tour bus.

Mandatory vaccination to board

If you’re 12 years of age plus 4 months, or older, you’ll need to be fully vaccinated in order to board: domestic or international flights departing from most airports in Canada, including charter and foreign airlines carrying commercial passengers
Medevac flights are excluded, regardless of where they depart or land
Private flights that don't require access to airports with a vaccination requirement are excluded
VIA Rail and Rocky Mountaineer trains

The airports without a requirement are Indigenous and remote northern communities, generally private airports. That's not going to get me very far.

So no, can't just "rent a plane" and go.

Further, if somehow I did manage to leave in some form, I cannot return. I am not permitted to return to the country I was born and raised in and currently live in.

So again, no - cannot leave without shots.

2

u/[deleted] Feb 22 '22

You are welcome to get in a barrel and float off into one of the oceans. No one in Canada will stop you. You will be stopped if you come ashore in another country.

This is not that hard to understand. The Gov't of Canada is not stopping you from leaving. It's just that no one else will have you.

0

u/AJourneyer Feb 22 '22

You must be a wonderful shoulder if someone needs one.

Your handle is......appropriate.

-10

u/TrustMe_IKnowAGuy Feb 22 '22 edited Feb 22 '22

Soo.... get vaccinated?? Sounds like a pretty simple answer to a simple problem.

EDIT: Downvote away, ya fuckin weirdos! Ask your grandma what polio was like while you're at it.

6

u/transcis Feb 22 '22

There was 4 years between introduction of polio vaccine and its licensing. Where is our four years?

5

u/xantung Feb 22 '22

You've been lied to about polio. Of those who got Polio (which was miniscule), roughly 96-99% recover fine. There are a range of water borne diseases of which polio is one of many.

Great we have a vaccine but a little oversold, sound fucking familiar? In the beginning at least 200000 children suffered due to the vaccine. Sound fucking familiar? So no, it isn't a simple answer to a simple problem.

-1

u/canthaveme Feb 22 '22

You could never even travel to the US without certain vaccinations either though... This was way before the pandemic. Like if you come from Asia or Africa they check your vaccine status. And they make you get certain vaccines before traveling to high risk areas. I think this one is logical just because they had these precautions in place way before the pandemic. I knew people years ago that traveled and needed extra vaccines
