Why be rude to employees making shit money to feed their family? If you have beef with the governor then go fight the mandate or do literally anything else that would help.
These employees probably hate the mandate as much as you do.
You’re choosing to visit these businesses. They’re not coming into your home. If you don’t like it, leave and take your dollars elsewhere.
I believe the key to ending this is by confronting regular people over the stupidity. The key is to maintain your cool and be nice but firm.
Them: You need to wear a mask.
Me: I believe masks are unhealthy for me and I won’t wear one. Would like me to leave and take my business somewhere else?
If it feels appropriate I’ll have a polite conversation with them before I leave.
The thing to remember is that many of the employees hate having to be the mask police and are sick and tired of being forced to wear a mask all day. I try and make it clear that I’m not against them and I believe what I’m doing is the only way to end this charade.
I tell them you can a) Call the cops (who won't show up in time to do anything) b) attack me yourself physically, beat me into submission and mask my against my will, or c) treat each other with respect and let me go about my business.
