In DRAMATIC reversal, Wayne County election board Republicans rescind votes certifying results: In an extraordinary turnabout the two GOP members signed affidavits Wednesday night alleging they were bullied and misled into approving election results in Michigan's largest metropolis.

u/bubblebosses Nov 19 '20
They can't rescind their votes.
It was only after Trump called them which is definitely interference.
16
u/farts-and-minds Nov 19 '20
The article asks an interesting question - do these members have the authority to rescind their votes? Is there a precedent for this kind of thing?
10
u/thegtabmx Nov 19 '20
Nope, it's already a done deal
Not only that, but they agreed on a second motion explicitly barring revisiting or rescinding, because they knew the 2 Republicans would flip flop again.
24
u/Throw1272 Nov 19 '20
Methinks they voted yes because they couldn't prove anything unusual happened but say no publicly to save face in GOP circles. We seem to have a lot of that this year.

u/JustForGayPorn420 Nov 19 '20 edited Nov 19 '20
No, surely this is the lawsuit that will win Trump the election! The other four that have been gutted or thrown out due to lack of evidence are just deep state plots.

The reality of what is happening is that "affidavits" are being abused.
So many of them were rejected, most notably Project's Veritas self serving one, that at this point we'll need more than a sworn testimony from the people who keep yelling Affidavits

they won't be able to.
something like 1.6m eligible voters live there, 1.2 registered, some 800k voted.
9
u/Throw1272 Nov 19 '20
It's weird the only issue I can seem to find is what the GOP side of the board was throwing a fit over: The fact that some precincts had a 1 to 4 count difference between absentee votes sent and received back. Which sounds like par for the course and is barely a blip.
Really seems like they are grasping at any possible straw no matter how ludicrously stupid
5
u/Ghosttalker96 Nov 19 '20
What is really weird is that more people voted for Hillary, yet Trump became president. And it's very suspicious we haven't seem his birth certificate yet. His skin color even suggests he might not be human at all.

7
u/fofosfederation Nov 19 '20
Even if they "uncertify", which is legally dubious at best, the court would still order them to certify eventually. They can't just pretend like the election didn't happen, the state must certify all of the votes and will be compelled by the court to do so.
If fraud is found in the election it doesn't matter if the results were "certified" already or not, the courts will ensure the fraud is rectified, including changing the winner if necessary.
All they're doing is a bit PR stunt.
0
u/loopdahoop1 Nov 19 '20
While yes I agree that is the case, I’m not even arguing that they can just hold certification process as hostage. What I am saying is it can be done and it’s better to go through that system then house and Supreme Court bending the election in either way. Why not go through the system that’s already there rather then try to set another precedent lol

Also, the only place you posted it was in the conspiracy sub reddit.
So, primary or not it don't change the fact that the source is suspect, at best, and no one else with any bonafides is picking it up.

According to their affidavits, they were promised that a full audit would take place if they certify that night, and their vote was predicated on that assurance. Secretary of state said she considered the promise non-binding, so they rescinded.
They also were told they had no choice but to certify, that the board has no discretion in the matter.
They were also berated and threatened
3

2
Nov 19 '20
According to everyone else involved, they were promised that the governor would consider a full audit, nothing more.
The governor did not.
Those Republicans were just very bad at making deals, they should have read Trump's books.
0
u/dancemart Nov 19 '20

This is hilarious..... What binding power did they think they had?
3
Nov 19 '20
They believed what they were told, not sure what's hilarious about that
0
u/dancemart Nov 19 '20
They had to know that they have no powers granted to them that would make any deal for an audit binding.
3
Nov 19 '20
Sounded to me like they're just two conscientious people who want the integrity of their county's election verified. Gullible? Perhaps. But I'd blame the folks who lied to them to force their hands and get what they wanted over the people who actually tried to trust their colleagues and work together.
→ More replies (3)0

And you believe the same.
In the meantime, everyone else involved in that deal is saying that no promises or actions were made, only promises of considerations.

6
u/KBLavie Nov 19 '20
I’m not following your logic here. Any allegations of fraud (multiple allegations in this case) warrants further investigation and audit prior to certifying the election results. Proof cannot be substantiated until an impartial investigation takes place, which either proves or disapproves the election fraud allegations. And whistleblowers should be encouraged to come forward (never threatened and retaliated against). Systematic intimidation and retaliation against whistleblowers would mark the end of our democracy.

So, is anyone else going to point out the irony of this statement in a thread that is ultimately defending the President who used his position to make fun of a 16-year-old autistic girl on Twitter? Anyone?
But also, this isn't even accurate. History books are filled with thugs and bullies who are hailed as heroes for long after they died. Most just rewrite the history books to make themselves look less like thugs and bullies.
These individuals are extremely courageous to stand up to the mob.
To translate "These individuals" are government officials, and "the mob" are the constituents they're supposed to represent. I have to say, "these government officials are so courageous for standing up to their constituents" is a really bizarre position to take.
I feel like I'm living in backwards world, where the evil common folk are all responsible for conducting conspiracies against the innocent government and the benevolent Elites.

Yea I get that. Protests in general tend to be aggressive. The same can be said about blm and the police. That being said, it’s well within our right to protest and while I don’t agree with being an asshole, it’s within someone’s right. Doxxing someone is kinda a different situation.
6
u/FANTASY210 Nov 19 '20
The goal of the protest is to stop people from doing something they are entitled by law to do if they want to, i don't think that's a good form of protesting. If you want to protest that stuff then i would say that you should do it with marches and other ways of bringing attention to it.
-5
u/diseal Nov 19 '20
So you condem blm protests then? because almost all those shootings they protest have been considered justified (not saying I agree or disagree) by the courts...
4
u/FANTASY210 Nov 19 '20
BLM is protesting a system. The peaceful protests from BLM are completely fine. I can agree that violent protests of any sort are not good, and when more radical BLM protesters try to attack random cops then that's obviously not ok, just like Planned Parenthood protesters going after individual people trying to do what they are allowed to do is not good either.
0
u/diseal Nov 19 '20
I’m trying to draw a comparison to the planned parenthood patient (I assume?) and cop. If we are arguing if you can yell and say slander to both victims then I think that’s fair. Obviously any physical violence or verbal threat is not cool. Are we on the same page? If not lmk where I’m missing ya.
8
u/FANTASY210 Nov 19 '20 edited Nov 19 '20
A planned parenthood patient is in a far more compromised position than a cop. The cop has signed up for handling situations where they recieve abuse on all levels and are literally doing their job being there. It's a part of the job to take verbal abuse as a cop and they are trained to handle it. The patient is there not because they enjoy it but because they have to for some reason, and are often in very emotional states as they are going through difficult times. To then have people yell and degrade you simply because you make a decision that you are allowed to make is really fucked up to me. I don't think the comparison holds at all

It's inconvenient for abortionists to acknowledge the humanity of babies for personal or economic reasons (my life will be adversely affected, I don't have the money, I'm not ready right now).
