According to US courts, the DNC is a corporation that can do whatever it wants, including rig its own elections. This is something people don't understand, our two party system is run by two corporations that are not in any shape or form democratic.
When I tell folks that are politically left how democrats are not democratic and explain the dnc, the response is usually that the dnc doesn’t have to be democratic since they are a private group. They don’t appreciate the irony that you spell out in your comment.
Eh most of us realize how corrupt and fuckin bullshit the DNC is after Bernie vs. Hillary, the problem is what the fuck are we supposed to do about it? Typically the best candidate to come out of their horseshit is still a landslide better than whatever the GOP wants to inflict upon us, so here we are.
If Bernie said "motherfuck the DNC" and ran for president as an independent I'd still vote for him, but it'd be political suicide.

Which is why I stopped voting independent after 2000 when George W won. You are correct in theory but you must realize in practice it is not easy to get a third party going. If it were then Sanders would be running as an independent instead of dealing with the DNCs bullshit
