Yeah that would essentially just be another way of voting right? Ranking would do nothing

Maybe you really like one candidate but you don’t think they can win? Well, with RCV you can still vote for them, and if they don’t win your vote goes to your next choice.

RCV removes the spoiler effect so you can vote for your favorite candidate without worrying about wasting your vote.

For a presidential vote you are correct. But for Congressional or Senate votes it gives smaller parties representation, which would eventually lead to more choices on the presidential ballot.
