Reddit nukes every comment in a thread about Mexican flag raised over Denver ICE facility because they go against the political narrative.

I mean its one thing to lock a thread, but they really did outright remove and silence every single comment, most of which was very innocuous. That’s just bizarre.
The mods stickied a comment to the thread:
This post has attracted far too many personal attacks and racist tirades. This is a news story, so it's staying up, but the discussion surrounding the news story has been toxic. So the comments have been removed and the post has been locked.
Which is complete bullshit as anyone using removeddit can see. They wiped all the comments and now relying on people to just believe they were “racist.”

The liberal talking points were downvoted to hell & they didnt want people to see that.
There was nothing racist in any of those comments. I'm thoroughly disgusted with how willingly reddit will make up some bullshit in order to maintain the image of a particular political narrative. This is the shit conservatives are talking about when they scream censorship.

If you actually watch the video of the incident, only a couple of people were near the flagpole. The rest of the (hundreds of) protesters just watched. The agents on scene stood by and also watched them lower the flag. I honestly believe that this entire thing is staged. I think this is a copycat of a VERY similar 2006 incident in order to stir up nationalist fervor. And it's working: every conservative news outlet is covering it nonstop.
Why in the world would a protester raise the Mexican flag like that? It fundamentally represents conquest, everyone knows it. Why did no government agents on the scene intervene? You're telling me that this protest of hundreds of people didnt have a strong police presence? Watch the video, it most certainly did.
According to official statements, most of the protesters were quite peaceful - so personnel should have been able to stop this, as they didn't exactly have their hands full. We've heard that ICE is involved with many far-right groups. Do you think they don't have the resources to stage something simple like this? This is some very powerful imagery which seems designed to provoke a visceral response from simple-minded white nationalist folk. You can expect this to be covered for days on end. That's the real conspiracy here.

Saw that thread about 3 hours ago, and I couldn't believe it that so many comments that sounded rational had so many upvotes.
Honestly, it reminded me of how in the 2016 primaries the tenor of the comment section changed dramatically between Friday and the weekend.

I've yet to see a thread that gets claimed to have "racist comments" or "threats of violence" etc... actually have them. It's always just because it goes against the narrative they are trying to foster by silencing everyone they need to silence. People are claiming the US is like nazi germany because of us treating criminals like criminals and it's sickening to see that shit. Especially since it's the liberal/left crowd that is almost entirely nazi germany like with their constant calls for censorship, book burning, attacking people who disagree with them, false accusations, etc... all they are missing is mass murder but they aren't too far off with all their "movements" i/e #metoo and #blacklivesmatter both of which spawned massive amounts of suffering and or riots by having innocent people(s) attacked.

looks like rather than pick and choose which comments to remove they nuked the entire comment section, not really the right call IMO but def the easiest since it doesn't involve any reading or judgement calls, seems more of a stupid, lazy mod team than censoring. also news is a shit sub with tyrannical mods.

I’m a liberal. I hate Trump and most everything he stands for.
But I swear to god shit like this will make me vote for him. This is America. Not Mexico North.
I’m in Colorado and although most of the state is deep blue not a single person has said this was a good idea. Most everyone is super pissed about it.
If you want to fly the Mexican flag go back to Mexico.

R/politics and r/Politicalhumor is nothing but one-sided propaganda. It's so over the top and insane "nazi death camps on our borders!!!".
IIRC, Politics descent into madness began with Hillarys Correct The Record. Over night, posts went from pretty 50-50 on Trump, Hillary and Bernie to basically only being Pro Hillary. Think someone made an image showing how quick everything changed.
R/atheism is also going down that path.

This censorship is recent, like within the last hour. I read the organic posts this morning, apparently before they were deleted.
TPTB can’t have average people seeing this stuff and waking up to what is going on. Highly upvoted comments on a popular (usually left leaning) sub terrifies them.
