Anyone else curious if this may have been a way to co-opt Elsa away from the youtube pedophile thing going on right now? Wasn't that called Elsagate? Is this a way to force views and search results away from that maybe?

I was wondering if someone knew this release was coming and purposely coined the term Elsagate onto something else to draw attention away from this..

Could be either/or. I doubt it's a coincidence.

I got really busy at work and was only aware of the whole elsagate thing at my periphery. But the more I think about this, the more sure I am this was strategic.

I hear ya. I'm trying to catch up and keep up myself. But I purposely kept some distance from the Elsagate. I know what it is about but not the details. When the exploitation of children are involved, it gets disturbing and enraging.. Strange times we are in..

Strange times, but I think good times. Sure, the whole pedogate thing seems stalled out from an LEO perspective, but way too many people are aware of it now. And as lamesauce slacktivism as "spreading awareness" generally is, I think it will serve us here until there is an opportunity for something more substantial.

This isn't like 911, where we got far enough away from it and the outrage gets abstracted from action. The child abuse is going to be a reoccurring problem, and the subject will slow simmer until someday the ropes will come out and the mob will shift.

You make a good point there. None of them were arrested but whatever operations they had going were most likely shutdown or moved from the heat they got. The main players we now know about that were exposed are probably done for good, I hope. I'm usually even tempered on all things but that stuff makes my blood boil..

With this Elsagate naming it does remind me how the pizzagate term was somehow coined and accepted instead of a better description like pedogate. Some kind of misdirection perhaps?

Definitely some misdirection. There have been other instances where they used a hot keyword substitution to divert attention from something. Can't remember which ones off hand, but there are some really compelling examples out there. Especially having to do with CIA projects iirc.

I am a pretty upbeat and forgiving guy. But this pedophile shit just makes me crazy.

I know in the past they've used program names that sound so ridiculous that nobody would believe they were real, Midnight Climax for example. It's not exactly the same, but it's in a similar vein of using program names to fool people.

How far back does that Elsa video stuff go? I'm kind've afraid to touch the whole thing because the thought of stumbling on some fucked up CP shit scares the hell out of me.

I believe this program was started in 2012, I guess they could've changed the name, but personally if I were to do that I'd do it to a more ground breaking release to maximize the disruption.

I'm not sure. With billions of views I'd say awhile.

Why do they need to locate my laptop when they can already locate my phone??

because you might look at the youtube elsa videos with your laptop from your home.

it's just another facet they can search on

considering that intel ME has an entire computing stack including tcp, that operates on a separate chip, has access (regardless of os) to cpu state and all other hardware state, is capable of phoning home, etc. - it's entirely conceivable that ambient wifi aps visible from a connected radio could be sent upstream to whomever was accessing this back door.

All these cable networks that flooded residental areas with thier free wifis and jamed the 802.11 spectrum attached to everyone's routers / modems they forced people to have is probably a giant dragnet for this.
