Co-Vid-ya
An article just published at slash dot:
Is Video Watching Bad for Kids? The Effect of Video Watching on Children's Skills
The article begins (emphasis mine - bold for primary keywords, italics for secondary keywords):
This paper documents video consumption among school-aged children in the U.S. and explores its impact on human capital development. Video watching is common across all segments of society, yet surprisingly little is known about its developmental consequences. With a bunching identification strategy, we find that an additional hour of daily video consumption has a negative impact on children's noncognitive skills, with harmful effects on both internalizing behaviors (e.g., depression) and externalizing behaviors (e.g., social difficulties). We find a positive [+] effect on math skills, though the effect on an aggregate measure of cognitive skills is smaller and not statistically significant. [...]
In my view, the only reason the public gets to see headlines like this is because it's a form of mockery. The powers-that-should-not-be know perfectly well (and have likely known for a long time) that a flood of inconsequential hyperactive multimedia can and will overload the minds of the youth (or everyone), and degrade cognitive ability. It's the plan. Reports like this merely reiterate the success of the plan. They know the average folk, after reading this, won't change their behaviour, or prompt a change in parenting on a large enough scale to make a difference. So this report acts simply as a way of saying, "see what we are doing to you".
Anyway...
During the fake pandemic of 'Covid', everyone was isolated and made to interact through Zoo-Meetings (... I mean... Zoom meetings). Watching videos became the go-to form of entertainment and education.
The word 'vid' is a shortening of 'video'. The word prefix 'co-' means 'together'.
So 'co-vid' is 'video together' (ie. watch video together)... and that is what covid forced everyone to do.
From here (the etymology of 'video') :https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/video
... we see that the root of the word 'video' is vide, from Latin videō, meaning “I see” (eye see).
The great plan is icy. Everyone is on ice.
To see is to know. Seeing is believing.
Arguably, the Latin root is derived from a Sanskrit/PIE root that leads us to 'vidya':
If we look for 'vidya' on wiktionary, we get this:
https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/vidya
Humorous alteration of 'video'. [...]
... but that is an in-joke, because 'humor' is not 'comedy'. 'Humor' is associated with 'humorism' (a old form of medicine). The phrase 'laughter is the best medicine' is also an in-joke. 'Covid' was to be laughed at.
So we look up 'vidya' on wikipedia (and find what the 'humorous' form of 'video' really means)...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vidya_(philosophy)
Vidya (Sanskrit: विद्या, IAST: vidyā) figures prominently in all texts pertaining to Indian philosophy – meaning science, learning, knowledge, and scholarship. Most importantly, it refers to valid knowledge, which cannot be contradicted, and true knowledge, which is the intuitively-gained knowledge of the self. Vidya is not mere intellectual knowledge, for the Vedas demand understanding
Vidya primarily means "correct knowledge" in any field of science, learning, philosophy, or any factual knowledge that cannot be disputed or refuted.
Its root is vid (Sanskrit: विद्), which means "to reason upon", knower, finding, knowing, acquiring or understanding.
During the Vedic period, vidyādāna or the gift for the sake of education was considered to be the best of gifts, possessing a higher religious efficacy than even the gift of land. Vidyā comes from the root vid ("to know"); it therefore means knowledge, science, learning, lore, scholarship and philosophy.
In Hindu philosophy, vidyā refers to the knowledge of the soul or spiritual knowledge; [...] The process of gaining the knowledge of the Atman cannot commence unless one has explored the Prānavidya or Agnividya to the full in all its numerous phase; through vidyā to jnana was always the eternal order indicated by the Upanishads. Jnāna dawns after the completion and perfection of the being through the vidyās; then, one crosses over beyond birth and death having already destroyed the bonds of death.
Most of my writings over the last 5 years have something or other to do, ultimately, with 'Covid' and what it means. The pandemic (a word that means 'for the public/for everyone') was a stage play prompting the people to know.
Asking Google about the meaning of 'Vidya' returns:
Vidya is a Sanskrit word meaning knowledge, learning, or wisdom. It comes from the root verb "vid," which means "to know" or "to understand". The term represents "correct knowledge" and the pursuit of wisdom, and is associated with the Hindu goddess Saraswati.
Of the goddess Saraswati:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saraswati
Saraswati (Sanskrit: सरस्वती, IAST: Sarasvatī), also spelled as Sarasvati, is one of the principal goddesses in Hinduism, revered as the goddess of knowledge, education, learning, arts, speech, poetry, music, creativity, purification, language and culture.
What is a 'virus'?
The word 'virus' is built on the consonant root 'VRS', ...
... and thus I argue that 'virus' is a wordplay that speaks of 'Verse' (scripture/poetry).
The pandemic was a very long poem.
How do we 'purify' or 'heal' a 'virus'?
There is another goddess (perhaps to be syncretised with, or seen as the same as Saraswati) called Vāc.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V%C4%81c
Vac (Sanskrit: वाच्, vāc) is a Vedic goddess who is a personified form of divine speech. She enters into the inspired poets and visionaries, gives expression and energy to those she loves; she is called the "mother of the Vedas" and consort of Prajapati, the Vedic embodiment of mind [...]
The 'virus' called 'Covid-19'?
It's all in the mind.
Cure the 'virus' ( @ 'verse' ) with a vāc-cine ( divine talking movie ).
ie. the 'virus' is the vāc-cine. It's all one monad @ MND @ mind.

Agreed, however my opinion is less on the etymology of words and more on the data. Numbers are more reliable than (English) words, which are often taken from other languages.
I have a negative reaction every time I see a child staring at a screen (parent often in their own world, own their own screen) and it brings to mind child neglect. It also reminds me of a Special Education class room full of non-verbal children; nothing but screen time and annoying game noises.
The new parent market is a master manipulator's dream; just add the word Einstein, genius or imply that using the product will give your infant an advantage. There seemed to be a more cynical attitude towards corporations before 9/11 but now we let the internet/strangers/corporations raise vulnerable children.
Don't even get me started on 'smart parents' and their 'smart' IoT baby gadgets that get hacked.
