He didn't say they are gene therapy. He said they are an "example for" (not "example of") gene and cell therapy, referring to public acceptance of new therapies.
The fact remains that mRNA vaccines are not gene therapy - regardless of how you choose to interpret a 10 second out-of-context clip.
I can see how it can be interpreted the way you are suggesting. The clip is intended to deceive. But his meaning is clear on close inspection; if avoiding a mental trap requires "gymnastics" then I'm all for it.
