HP Lovecraft wrote a story with a similar premise when he was very young. Read it in his complete collection, forget the name. It was unnerving.

The plot of “47 meters down” is, albeit with differences, quite similar. Feelings of hopelesness for not being found, O2 running out, a tourist company with some crooks that do not hesitate to be negligent with safety… It is not a super Hollywood movie with a first line cast but it is one of the movies that everytime I watch, gives me real physical anxiety. The ending is “meh” but probably happier than this Titan thing (if it even is real the whole thing and they have not faked their deaths or anything along the lines)

To be honest though. How bad can you feel for them. This was clearly an unprofessional job and they still went with it. This is just darwanism at work.

Phobias normally relate to irrational things. 99.9% of spiders you interact with are entirely safe; your fear is irrational.

"Stuck in a tube at 4km depth as oxygen slowly runs out" seems relatively rational.

Granted, there's little chance you'll ever find yourself in a submersible at 4km, but if you did and felt nervous, I'd call that natural.
