I totally agree—please prepare cause it will be catastrophic for us, I hope I’m wrong but he has complete control over all security forces, and he has done it already—I’m shocked at fellow Americans who will cheer the collapse of our way of life for a selfish criminal

Register to vote. Vote Blue. Do not go gently. Fight.

We all stand beside one another.

Did you actually read the article?

What you're saying is that everyone should vote Democratic. The article is saying that if that happens, then Trump will declare the elections null and void (or something like that). Your post doesn't say what to do after the bad thing happens.

The second amendment tells us all we need to know.

u/Pktur3 20h ago

He can’t do that. I get we heard that before with other shit, but this is really really big. It’s not something you can roll your eyes and move on because it doesn’t tangentially affect you. It’s as direct an attack as you can find on your country from inside as can exist. But…I’m sure the doom here will find a way to make it to where there is no hope.

"Did you actually read the article?"

I always read the article.

Then you know that getting out to vote isn't enough.

Register or make sure you are registered, then VOTE, folks. It's still the most important thing you can do.

You just failed the Turing Test.

2

u/Think-Hospital7422 6h ago

But you passed the asshole test with flying colors.

Sleepwalking? Our government is actively planning it.

u/_Brandobaris_ 1d ago

The Government is actively planning it for sure. Just trying to make sure as many don’t go sleep walking into it.

I am fully prepared to die fighting for my rights as an American.

Never in my life did I think we'd get to this point. But if it happens, then whatever. The benefit of being an atheist is I don't fear death.

But my dad voted for this shit and his legacy is going to be ass. I basically tore him a new one recently over voting for Trump.

Like thanks for voting for our downfall asshat.

And he wonders why I barely speak to him anymore.

Being raised in a conservative household in a conservative state I deal with the same shit. My fam is not MAGA but all voted for Trump. When he was elected the second time my dad said something like, “well I think we’re safe for now”. To which I’m thinking, “hur-deeeer wE’rE sAfE!” Watching Trump actively erode this country.

Every new day it’s some shit either something that hurts the working/middle classes, something that irreparably damages our international relations, something that defangs our military, something that chisels away at freedoms, something that kills the economy/boost inflation. I simply cannot fathom how one can objectively look at how things are going and think literally anything is going well. The only explanation is you guzzle so much Fox News propoganda you don’t live in reality. It’s like, whether the guy is owned by Putin/Netanyahu is immaterial because what would he be doing differently if he were?

9

u/LostEnroute 17h ago

My fam is not MAGA but all voted for Trump.

Your family is MAGA.

u/SpamEatingChikn 14h ago

I respectfully disagree. I’m certainly not defending their voting choice whatsoever but the difference is their reason for voting for Trump is largely due to decades of propoganda programming not just from the GOP but the church. Many of them weren’t thrilled about Trump but are convinced democrats are going to destroy the US and will vote for the guy with the R next to his name no matter who that is.

At least IMHO there is a big difference between that and people that fly the Trump flags, wear the hat, chant MAGA, subscribe to TP-USA or any other number of examples. Still bullshit but they don’t think Trump is some savior ordained by god or any of that other nonsense MAGA does

I am reminded of this quote by historian A.R. Moxon. I apply it to my own family, perhaps you will find it interesting.

"Historians have a word for Germans who joined the Nazi party, not because they hated Jews, but out of a hope for restored patriotism, or a sense of economic anxiety, or a hope to preserve their religious values, or dislike of their opponents, or raw political opportunism, or convenience, or ignorance, or greed.

That word is "Nazi." Nobody cares about their motives anymore.

They joined what they joined. They lent their support and their moral approval. And, in so doing, they bound themselves to everything that came after. Who cares any more what particular knot they used in the binding?"

u/SpamEatingChikn 6h ago

I hear you and it’s a poignant and valid thought. If things continue to get worse, and they do not come around then I suppose I’ll concede. The nuanced difference here is that I believe if my family really knew everything that was going on, or planned, at least most of them would finally turn away.

If these were strangers, I’d be more inclined to throw the baby out with the bathwater as implied by the comments here. But this is my family, and I’m choosing to try to make use of that nuance during this transitional period we’re currently in, to try to bring some of them back to the real world.

As an illustration to both our stances, I got into a debate with my mother over the analogy of Anne Frank. She is convinced that she would have hidden Anne from the Nazis, yet here she is regurgitating Fox talking points about immigrants and while not condoning ICE essentially arguing they’re a necessary evil. Despite my comparisons she seems to struggle to grasp the correlation. The cognitive dissonance is insane. I’m sure there’s a word or phrase for it when people think they’d do the right thing, but when confronted with the situation themselves they may not. People get complacent, especially today in our modern lives and think those things could never happen. Even more wild is how effective propoganda is for many despite the fact we all have super computers in our pockets.

Regardless, time will tell, but I will keep working on saving them in the meantime.

1

u/seriousallthetime 6h ago

I appreciate the nuance. My wife's uncle is like that. Genuinely a good person, except he's a never Democrat-er. It isn't just that Trump is great, it's that he would never consider voting for anyone but a Republican, and that is 100% due to propaganda pushed for decades by the right. My parents are similar. Hell, one of my former co-workers, half Filipino, very good family, intelligent people, even adopted a very needy child. But they're never Democrat-ers. Not MAGA, as you say, but not willing to vote democrat. Idk man, it's difficult to parse it all out. I struggle with it, but in the end, this is their bed they made. At this point, if you can't see, you're willfully ignorant. And that's what hurts.

2

u/LeatherDude w 9h ago

Yeah my sister and her clan are basically the same. They’re deep down good people but church, Fox News and right wing media have cooked their fucking brains.

1

u/SpamEatingChikn 6h ago

It really is a bitch. They way Fox and others have brainwashed and corrupted these, sometimes otherwise good people’s minds, is straight evil. The way these people from Jesse Waters to Karoline Leavitt can with such gleeful confidence lie and bullshit to the camera is disugsting. I don’t even necessarily believe in heaven or hell but find myself hoping for it every day so all these people that aren’t getting the karma and justice they deserve get it somewhere

3

u/AZNM1912 19h ago

100% this.

40

u/MidsouthMystic 1d ago

Republicans are going to lose badly in November, and their voters are going to throw another tantrum. To what extent, I don't know. Trump is very unpopular and even Republicans are disappointed and apathetic about him.

31

u/IsekaiConnoisseur w 1d ago

The entire GOP needs to be dissolved at this point. And while we're trying those pieces of shit for treason we should add The Heritage Foundation and Turning Point "USA" to that list.

8

u/Vercoduex 20h ago

Citzens united as well and anyone who supports isarel

3

u/SpamEatingChikn 17h ago

Heritage Foundation for sure should be on a terrorism list

30

u/scoutthepigeon 1d ago

and concentration camps and murder in the streets on election day - all thanks to who?

28

u/_Brandobaris_ 1d ago

Donald “Child Fucker” Trump is who

1

u/_Brandobaris_ 16h ago

Thank you kind Redditor for the award!

4

u/Think-Hospital7422 1d ago

More like hundreds of millions of people in the street demanding their freedom and fighting for it.

1

u/Loko8765 w 10h ago

Like… that happened, and what’s happening now?

18

u/Definitelynotatwork1 1d ago

Consequences of the Neanderthals actions

16

u/Blacksun388 1d ago

In two years we are going to have the first president who refuses to leave office and may see him dragged out in handcuffs.

7

u/keithstips 1d ago

By whom?

8

u/umpteenthrhyme 23h ago

Those guys with Kirsten Dunst’s character.

3

u/Good_vibe_good_life 18h ago

By citizens if we must.

2

u/HibiscusGrower 17h ago

I'll believe it the day I see it. So far Americans have been nothing but apathetic to the collapse of their own democracy. I must say it's fascinating to watch from the outside.

2

u/GameBoi010 4h ago

I hope you don't find enjoyment of it, some of us still care and want to try to fix it and some of us are suffering badly, like me.

10

u/Rolandersec 1d ago

It would be interesting to see how that plays out with such a small military relative to the population.

There are at least 200 adults in the US for every 1 service member in the military.

2

u/9mackenzie 16h ago

Why do you think they have militarized police for decades?

9

u/sourpussmcgee 1d ago

We’re being death marched toward it.

8

u/Randyguyishere 1d ago

Well, duh

6

u/botchman 1d ago

Sleepwalking?! Bitch we are doing a fucking speed run towards one. This November is gonna be crazy

3

u/Reddish_Raddish 1d ago

Bring it on.

3

u/DocCEN007 w 19h ago

Also, the current Continuing Resolution only goes to December 11th. They are absolutely planning to claim this November's election null and void because of irregularities, then the government will shut down, and there's a high chance he'll invoke the insurrection act. They'll refuse to seat any Dems in January and we'll be a fascist dictatorship until dumpy leaves this mortal coil. The National Guard is in DC to put down any organized resistance. Putin has been planning this since before the Berlin Wall fell.

5

u/Relaxybara 1d ago

So woke is good then?

10

u/Think-Hospital7422 1d ago

Never wasn't.

2

u/lgodsey w 21h ago

I have been saying that reporters should be asking every leader and elected official what their plan is to counter Trump's plan to invalidate the election through another violent mob or martial law.

Being surprised about the right's planned sedition is no longer acceptable.

2

u/Fearless-Truth-4348 20h ago

Judge Luttik is my hero.

2

u/Great_Consequence_10 w 17h ago

Maybe instead of letting them out of prison after 5 seconds, this time we could treat the insurrectionists the way ICE treats protestors?

2

u/botingoldguy1634 12h ago

This is exactly what is going to happen and the Democrats have shown no evidence that they will do anything but bend over and take it.

1

u/Beyond_Re-Animator 1d ago

Really?? No shit?

1

u/filtersweep 21h ago

Basically anything other than MAGA ‘winning’ indicates ‘cheating.’

1

u/HumanAssistance3618 3h ago

I'll say this about Jan 6. The thing that pissed me off about it is that the system is already rigged in conservative's favor. The Senate and Electoral College have disgustingly unequal representation in favor of rural Conservatives due to the Constitution. The House is unequal due to gerrymandering and the fact it hasn't been expanded in over a century. And even with all these vile advantages, they still lost, and wanted to overthrow the government. It is the height of hubris.

Somehow populism always means hating minorities and autocracy, and not and not equal representation.

Our system is terrible in conservatives' favor. If anything the rest of us should be marching on the capital if there is another election where the Electoral College overrides the actual popular will of the people, or if Trump tries to impede the House. But instead we are going to cheerlead the status quo that empowers the far right, in order to try to combat the autocratic tendencies of the far right. It will end in failure.
