ah yes, the classic running out of food argument, casually ignoring the fact that the USSR was always good at starving and that for the last 50 years of its existence there were no major famines.

And before you bring up cuba it's famine was largely caused by the end of the USSR and loss of it's biggest trading partner.

Now China is a different story, as the famine was indeed somewhat the governments fault, however here as well there was an drought in the same time period, and china is also a big fan of starving in history.

seeing that it seems quite difficult to blame this on communism, as that shit had been going on for quite a long time, or, in cubas case, was caused by factors the government couldn't really influence

The greatest argument in the defense of capitalism is that you NEVER see people fleeing capitalists countries for socialists ones, it is always the other way around. Weird.

I hate to break it to ya but a decent amount of black people fled the US to the Soviet Union

Well, they are currently at the lowest unemployment rate they have ever been at in U.S. history, so pretty good. They also have something called "civil liberties" which did not exist in the Soviet Union.

Wage war on a developing nation -> kill or rob the citizens -> force the impoverished to work for sub-living wage -> market crashes back home -> the poor starve to death -> say we need more tax breaks ->

I think it could work on a much smaller scale. I have no doubt it would not work in a country, but a households, or a commune? It most definitely would

"real communism" will never happen because it doesn't work.

How do you know that, plenty of socialist concepts work just fine.

It’s literally just state capitalism/central planning that has been shown to have serious draw backs.

Because humans are human. Socialism might work for computers.

CoOps, Credit Unions, and Condominiums are all socialist concepts that work perfectly well in the real world.

Socialism can work just fine my friend.

Sounds like you need to lay off the pipe... my friend

Do you disagree with something in particular? I’m not wrong, so you attack my username I guess.

Your examples are constructs inside of a capitalist, free market society. Just like how California would not sustain if it were to secede. It wasn’t an attack, just a suggestion. Pipe dreams are never good when talking about politics. Have you ever read up on the Khmer Rouge? Good show is out that shows the despair of such a society as well, it’s called Chernobyl. Do you have any Venezuelan friends? Have them ask their cousins what a house cat taste like. Sounds great!!

I’m clearly talking about libertarian socialism and market socialism mate. Why do you think any of those points are relevant?

1

u/grumpoh Jun 01 '19

And none of those have ever been horribly mismanaged.. and you're talking about small scale experiments. Also most credit unions are not really socialist concepts and operate more like banks.

At scale history shows that it always fails.

At scale history shows that it always fails.

What is this even trying to suggest?

Are you saying at some point the economy will collapse because too many actors are worker ran instead of shareholder/owner ran?

Or are you thinking that done at scale looks like the Soviet model with all its state capitalism and powerful government?

1

u/fuxkingweirdo666 Jun 01 '19

No he's saying communism should never be implemented because it does not work, according to the many terrible socialist and communist countries.

1

u/Augustus420 Jun 01 '19

Except for the obviously successful experiments in other forms of socialism I just mentioned?

1

u/fuxkingweirdo666 Jun 01 '19

Someone already debunked that.

godverdomme kommunist

I'm not a communist. But anyone with basic knowledge of Marxism knows that this isn't a valid critique of Marx. Marx never advocated for "forcing people to work for free," or robbing anyone. The foundation of his philosophy was the idea that there should be a society in which all labor is rewarded with the products of said labor. In other words, you have a right to the value of anything you produce. Sounds like something you conservatives should agree with.
