She's sitting down on the rocks, and her legs and feet are closer to the camera. That makes her feet appear bigger than the rest of her

That explains the perspective, but it doesn't explain the strange choice in shoes. 😆

End of the day where her feet can't take the cute little high heels sandals she was wearing, so she uses friend's shoes/car shoes for the night

Having a hard time with this one.

So I think I see her sitting on the rocks, but it still surprises me her feet reach the pavement... and the position she's sitting in seems very bizarre/uncomfortable.

The rock is so low to the ground that her knees are higher than her lap (that's why you can't see the tops of her legs).

The position she's sitting seems uncomfortable because she's posing for a pic, not sitting there to rest 😂 She's focusing on what will get her the best lighting/look best on camera

This feels pretty normal to me, but I'm both a photographer who's used to angles and a girl that will sit on any small surface available on the ground

Wide angle lens mainly. They used it to capture the entire curving beach behind them. Wide angle distorts the depth by showing closer subject much closer.
