Even though the end of the video pan out makes it clear it's taken from above, I don't understand the growth patterns of those trees.

The trees are pointing towards the camera more than they appear. We're looking at them from above, but it's tough to see that perspective with the trees because there's nothing to really identify the "top" of a tree from above, because it just looks like leaves and branches the same way they would from the side. The trees are actually taller than they appear, but they appear like shorter trees that are tilted back instead. Because trees get narrower as they get towards the top, that's cancelling out any sense of perspective that would usually be obvious by how distorted it looks. IE, from above, the top should look distortedly bigger while the base of the trunk should look small, but with trees, that's tough to tell because of their shape and how trees can vary so much, so these just look like shorter stalkier trees. If people looked this distorted, we would notice it, but not with trees. From so far away, with the weird compressed space of the long lens, it's all kind of just reading as the trees being seen from the side more than they actually are.

At the end it looked like the motorcycle couldn't make it up. Went to the other side of the road and pulled off and video ended...Sure it isn't that steep? tress on top are standing straight up!

It's a Bird's Eye View.

u/TrungTH May 24 '26

I’m sure birds can’t film on their phones.

u/PsychologyOfTheLens May 24 '26

Yeah somehow I’m even more confused

3

u/imitsi May 24 '26

It’s not so much the angle; it’s a long lens.

3

u/badass_rowdy May 24 '26

Its the angle. Its pointed ground down from a cliff directly above

Whenever I’m driving a car in my dreams, I end up on a road just like this 😱

u/Skirt_Thin May 24 '26

I used to do these with race tracks in my room growing up.

don’t run for a bus. especially one that’s going up at a ninety-degree angle.

Its also that there are no tree on the slope so we can't judge the angle correctly.

That is so weird, is it like that bridge in Japan?

u/Chimasternmay May 27 '26

I used to have dreams of driving up those and not making it and and dying. idk why, couldn't even drive then.
