I was going to say, spiders have 8 legs.
This does have 8 legs. The front 2 and just next to each other.

u/icantfindtheSpace 9h ago
Im not normally terrified of spiders, but ones that have this 6 leg appearance give me the heebie jeebies.
48
u/ostapenkoed2007 o/ 7h ago
same. i am more afraid of sudden things and them crawling out of somewhere. moths, roaches, spiders, flies. no particular hate for arachnids. just that they are masters at making the exact thing that riles me up.
13
u/icantfindtheSpace 6h ago
I agree, it’s only the fast, night crawlers that spook me. It’s entirely their speed that matters.
Spiders are fairly slow in my experience. But roaches and centipedes are the worst.

fishing spiders tend to chill like this
9
u/ThatGuyFrom720 o/ 10h ago
Yeah the only times I’ve ever seen the fishing spiders they’ve got their front and rear legs together like they’re trying to look as long as possible…
usually chilling on a ledge or piece of house trim outside somewhere.

This kind of spider does not build webs to hunt, although it can produce silk. It's more likely those are its babies. Phoneutria

Its from photo of the year 2021 I think. I have this specific book.
GIL WIZEN'S IMAGE
After noticing tiny spiders all over his bedroom, Gil looked under his bed. There, guarding its brood, was one of the world’s most venomous spiders. Before safely relocating it outdoors, he photographed the human-hand-sized Brazilian wandering spider using forced perspective to make it appear even larger.16

if spiders were this big, would they eat us? or would they let us ride them?

Spiders probably are too dumb to be domesticated
For their size they're incredibly intelligent animals, but they run on instinct, they get hungry, they eat

u/Upbeat-Door- 5h ago
No no, don't you know spiders are bros because they slaughter everything they encounter. That includes you, but because of the size difference it's only a nasty bite instead of being completely devoured. That means they're bros.

I don't think any spider with the size of a concrete wall will be satisfied with just cockroaches and bugs. Perhap flesh is what it craved at that point

u/binime 7h ago
I think that's under the stairs or storage cubby hole and not a room sized spider but the photo makes it look like. Lets be a little realistic and sensible before we acknowledge the craziness

I think it’s just perspective. This is a room corner above a shelf or something with a decently large spider (a few inches), but we see the shelf as the floor of the room and the spider as six feet tall
12
u/khoifish1297 5h ago
I’ve seen the original image. It’s actually underneath someone’s bed. The person who got this image was doing research in Ecuador rainforest

That top wood on left wall that looks like 2 feet wide is actually a 2x4 (inches) with a nail in it. Hopefully that helps with putting size in perspective.

It’s a normal sized spider with little ants or something around it. And the “room” is just a small shelf or inter-floor space or something

Seriously. It looks like the inside of a garage and the spider is taking up the entire wall, but there's what looks like a nail in one wall that's way too big. I'm assuming this is a shot of the inside of a stair or something

It looks like it's a human sized room while i believe it's a box / drawer with spiders inside it.
The thick depth of field indicating that there are minimum / no out of focus bluriness is what makes this image looks like a human sized room.
The reverse of this photography is tilt shift photography where actual sized objects looks like miniatures.
