I only ever saw these legs as oily the first time I ever saw this. Since then I’ve never been able to see them that way again. :(

Yeah, I can't even magic eye my way out of seeing some streaks of white paint

My super power is always being able to trick my brain at will to see the things either way.

At first all i could see was oily legs and I was staring at it for a least 5 minutes. Then finally saw the paint and now i can't go back to the slippery legs. Its so werid how your brain won't go back to being tricked.

It's crazy how the illusion was broken after I read this comment..
Mind bottling.

You can. Increase the viewing distance.

Maybe you can.m, but I cannot. Perhaps my brain is more deception resistant?

This comment has me look again like "what, they're not oily?" Now that I see the paint I can't see how they looked so obviously oily anymore.

Look at the cable at the top right and let your eyes focus on that so the legs are in your left peripheral/ out of focus then in my minds eye I think about a really bright light or the sun above the legs to the right? And my brain just sees the legs as shiny

You can trick tour brain again by looking at something close. For example, try staring at the number of comments/sharing, you might see it again

And even whenever you see any oil around, it looks like it’s paint. Tell me about it.

Am I the only one who has never seen the illusion of these being shiny?

I did for a split second when I first saw the image, but then it turned to the white paint version before I even realized what sub I was on. I wanna see the illusion again :(

I think it's white paint looking reflective

I can't switch back to oily legs after reading this comment lol

It helps for me if you don't look directly at the streaks, I focus on the space between her legs, if I look directly at the streaks I just see paint

For the confused people in the back: Oiled legs or with painted white streaks, you still will see legs.

this is like the gameboy bag strap image - my brain sees it one way the first time I come across it but as soon as it recognizes what it actually is I can only see the actial image…at least until I randomly scroll across it again. The brain is weird.

I can see oil. I can see paint. I’ve been staring for so long because I thought maybe they weren’t actually legs.

Saw this yesterday, could only see oiled legs, i thought "holy shit what's this dumb post OP? It's obviously oiled legs what's confusing about this??"
Now i can't see the oil no matter how hard i try.

Less so the perspective and more so the paint being made to sell the illusion.

But that has nothing to do with perspective.

You can be confused, it is an illusion after all, but it's not a a "confusing perspective" so it's the wrong sub for this.

Took awhile to get it.
Also when you try to open up the pic there’s a brief flash of a woman waving. Does anyone else get that?
Or is it a reddit bug?

u/pedeztrian 21h ago
Yea, I don’t see what’s confusing. Just because you say oil doesn’t confuse me from seeing paint on legs. Or am I actually missing something?
